"The ultimate essence of existence is not to achieve success but to live for others"

I believe someone will read the above quote again
and thought for a while; probably doubting if the
writer is in his right frame of mind.
Of course, you are entitled to your thought (or
should I say opinion?).
Check this out, according to an anonymous
philosopher; "Human exist for two things:
SURVIVAL & SEX".
I found it hard to accept this quote when I first
heard it sometimes back. Especially the later point
of intercourse, I was not too stunned but could not
fathom if that is necessarily the essence of our
existence, 'cos my thought have always been
coloured by religious sentiment in that regard. But
opening my mind to the issue of life holistically in
recent times I can't agree less with the philosopher
(though quite debatable).
In other words, he stressed that we exist to live -
survive, while the second contentious issue - sex,
the major element that "invent" human life.
As inconceivable that later part may be, the first
looks quite simple. No matter how you look at life,
you can't survive without the existence of others
and vice-versa.
Looking at the former, which is the major area of
this write-up, I dare say that the strife to survive has
made human to take and see life from different
angles - few are good but many are bad.
Furthermore, in the process of "surviving", heaven
may smile at one, and thereafter may encounter
success, which I see as a by-product (in literal
context).
In the light of this, it won't be out of point to stress
that in the strive of human existence, humanity has
not find it easy at all. Thus, engaging in so many
activities that are sometimes inimical to the
progress of other humans-alike or even creating
self-destruction in the long run.
Over the years, scientific studies have shown that
so many human activities like mining and
exploration are responsible for the present climate
change, earthquake etc.
On the premise of this, one would be right to
conclude that the "enemy of man" is man. And that
supports the old saying, "What goes around, comes
around".
Just like a boomerang, mankind has reaped what he
had sowed over the decades and centuries.
Lest you think this is science-based write-up, let me
quickly reiterate that the lesson drawn from the
example given is also applicable in societal
endeavor of mankind.
Far from what many thought, the "Law of Karma" is
still very much active. That is, whatever you sow is
what you reap.
Africa, as a continent has refused to meet up with
global standard and still doing catch-up, always
bearing the "tag name", developing continent with
many developing nations and countries.
Nigeria is experiencing and going through bad &
bumpy patches in its political drive-way, which has
evolved into a poverty stricken society that is
engulfed with the very few rich elites (in the
political class) and impoverished majority (70%
reportedly living below 2 dollar a day) in the
country.
Our founding fathers in their thoughts were
building a great nation, even though we are not,
starting on wrong foundation of 1914
almagamation. Being one of our undoing! As bad as
our economic, political and social life may look, the
onus lies on us all, citizens of Nigeria to either
languish in the negative effect of our faulty
foundation or break free from the ugly "back fire"
of our fathers' evil deeds.
Yeah, what they did years ago, pre-independence
and after 1960 are responsible for our woes today.
Our under-development can only be traced to these
old fathers, some alive and others dead.
But am not going to dwell on the "blame game" and
keep chewing the gum of our seemlessly
unresolvable problems, rather I would call on
youths of this great country - NIGERIA, to take a
stand and stop being docile and take our destinies
in our hands.
Let us partake in societal change in all our
endeavors, in schools, at work, in the
neighborhood, in religious houses etc. Be the
change your society wants, start from where you
are and lead by good character display. Be an
enviable role model and if possible mentor young
ones to be responsible citizens, in every sense of it.
We are paying for the wrong deeds of our fathers,
but we cannot afford to bequeath the same pitiable
lifestyle to our unborn generations.
Whatever we do individually or collectively affects
not just us alone, but our society and country. So,
do good deeds for the good of yourself and others.
Hence, the only thing that must "boomerang" to
meet us and our posterity should be good things of
life.
May the "GOOD" labour of our heroes past never go
in vain. Amen!

"Nigerian Senators Earn Four Times More Than Obama" - David west

Prof. Tam David-West, the former Minister
of Petroleum, said there were "more
thieves in the Nigerian government than
saints". David-West made the observation
while speaking at a town hall meeting
organised by the University of Ibadan
chapter of the Academic Staff Union of
Universities.
He spoke
thus: "Any government that fails to invest in
education is a vagabond government. The
problem with Nigeria is that we have more
thieves than saints in government.
"We drill over two million barrels of crude oil
per day. Why should we be poor? ASUU is
saying, 'Put money in education to improve
education quality for our children and those
yet unborn'.
"The same government that does not have
money for education budgeted N1bn each to
feed the President and Vice-President for a
year. Are they eating rock in Aso Rock?
"It is not having university degree that makes
you a good leader. Late President Umaru
Yar'Adua and Goodluck Jonathan are the first
set with university degrees — but that has not
translated to significant changes. Churchill
was not the best in his class but one of the
best world leaders."
He said there was no justification for any
lawmaker to earn more than a university
professor.
"They spend less time and may not even have
five credits, yet a Senator in Nigeria earns
more than 10 professors. A Senator in Nigeria
can pay President Obama's salary four times
over. When people get to the top they become
insane," he noted.

Police in Edo parade 44 suspected kidnappers.

THE war against kidnapping in Edo
State recorded success, as the state police
command, Wednesday, paraded 44 suspected
kidnappers including those involved in the recent
kidnap of three primary school teachers.
Addressing newsmen on the breakthrough in its
battle against criminality, the state Police
Commissioner, Foluso Adebanjo, expressed
satisfaction over the achievement, adding that the
suspects will soon be charged to court.
The command also disclosed that assorted
ammunition and firearms, including locally made
and foreign guns, were seized from the suspected
criminals.
Adebanjo who said about 500 suspected
kidnappers were being prosecuted in the state,
vowed that any form of criminality in the state
would be met with extreme force.
He said: "On July 18, 2013, 32 suspected criminals
who were arrested for various crimes were
paraded. Today, we have in our custody another
44 suspects that will soon be charged to court for
various offences.
Narrating how the police captured some of the
suspected kidnappers, who masterminded the
abduction of Patience Osadolor, Patience
Oroghene and Aisha Momodu, teachers of
Orhogbua Primary School, in Ekenwan
community, Ovia North East Local Government
Area, who were recently freed Adebanjo called on
residents to beware of people, some of who he
said parade themselves as community leaders.
"This state is not safe for any form of criminality
and I want them to know this. These people
arrested, some of them had carnal knowledge of
children which is ungodly. They will face the law
and we will intensify our search for criminals in
this state," he stated.
One of the suspected kidnappers, Morrison Gajah
(45), who claimed to be a community leader,
confessed to purchasing the guns used in the
teachers' abduction, but denied knowledge of
activities of the perpetrators.
He said, "I am chairman of Ekenwa CDA and over
a year ago, we bought two locally made guns and
one pump action from Joseph Oteh. We were
keeping them in the community, but I shuttle
between there (Ekenwan) and Benin and these
boys (pointing at (Edimere Pawuru), who had the
weapons in their custody, to commit the crime."
Pawuru in turn denied direct link with the
teachers' abduction, claiming that those that
carried out the act escaped from their houses on
sighting the police.Among others paraded were
armed robbery suspects, including Onaiwu
Jeffrey, Omoghia Jesuf, Ibrahim buba, Ebose
Endurance, Sunday Esosa, Imafidon Ehigie and
Osazee Oshenoma, who the command said it
recovered.

Michael Scofield in Prison Break came out as a gay man yesterday

Sorry ladies, we've lost another hot one to the
men. Damn! Who would have thunk it? Anyone
surprised he's gay? Wentworth, who played the
lead character Michael Scofield in Prison Break
came out as a gay man yesterday August 21 via
an open letter to the Saint Petersburg Film
Festival, rejecting an invitation to attend a
premiere there because of Russia's recently-
passed anti-gay laws.
The 41-year-old actor wrote:
Thank you for your kind invitation. As
someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in
the past and can also claim a degree of
Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to
say yes. However, as a gay man, I must
decline.
I am deeply troubled by the current attitude
toward and treatment of gay men and
women by the Russian government. The
situation is in no way acceptable, and I
cannot in good conscience participate in a
celebratory occasion hosted by a country
where people like myself are being
systematically denied their basic right to live
and love openly.
Perhaps, when and if circumstances
improve, I'll be free to make a different
choice.

Cameroon President banned all churches because they refuse to bring his Dog back to Life

Lobatan was the end result on a popular miracle church in Cameroon when the pastor failed to raise the president favorite dog (Bingo) from the dead. According to the president his dog ate rat poison by mistake and instead of taking him to the hospital he rushed him to the Miracle church because he has heard so much about the church. But to his greatest disappointment as the pastor was praying for the dog and cabashing, the dog was dying gradually.

What even infuriated the president was the fact that the dog was in a more healthy state before he (president) took him to the. Church.
The pastor  who almost urinated on his  trousers begged for more time that he saw Bingo cracking a delicious bone and has refused to listen to him begging him to return back home.

This angered Mr. President the more and in his furious state ordered that all pentecoastal churches should be sealed up. As if that was not enough he also ordered that nobody should pay tithe to any pastor or offering if anyone fails to obey, such will face 3months jail time. As we report 4 persons have been detained for refusing to obey the President order. After much pleading from most pastors in cameroon, Mr president revisted his order on the basis that any pentecoastal church can bring his dead dog to life, the church will be opened.

Federal Government's meeting with ASUU ends in deadlock again

The resumed negotiation between the federal government and the Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) has once again reached a stalemate.

At the end of a closed door meeting which lasted for about three hours, Chairman of the Needs Assessment Implementation Committee, Governor Gabriel Suswam announced the launch of N100 billion by September 1 to address infrastructure deficit in all universities across the country.



The federal government further approved an additional intervention of N30 billion to be released to university council as against the initial N92 billion demanded by ASUU to resolve the issue of earned allowances.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim told journalists that the fund is only to clear off the backlog but would need to verify ASUU's claims.

President of ASUU, Proffesor Nasir Faggae however noted that the government's intervention move is tantamount to a re-negotiation of the 2009 agreement, which would not be accepted by the Union.

Update on ASUU strike

ASUU STRIKE:
PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has approved a sum
of N400 billion to be expended on infrastructural
development of Nigerian universities in order to
transform them to international standard within the
next four years.
The document to this effect is expected to be made
available today at the meeting of the Presidential
Committee on Implementation of the NEEDS
Assessment in the universities with the leaders of
the four university based unions - the Senior Staff
Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the
National Association of Academic Technologists
(NAAT), the Non-Academic Staff Union of
Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and
the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
President of SSANU, Comrade Samson Ugwoke,
stated this while addressing his union members at
the SSANU National Executive Committee (NEC)
meeting held at the University of Abuja at the
weekend.
