Pastor Shot To Death By Robbers Over Fake Gold Chain

A well-known South Florida pastor was shot dead after he refused to hand over his fake gold chain to two men who tried to rob him as he left a local market.
Police told Local 10 News that pastor Kenneth Johnson, 67, of Power of Faith Deliverance Ministries, was ambushed by
at least two men in what they Know was a robbery attempt.
Witnesses say that the robbers had targeted a fake gold chain the pastor had around his neck and they struggled
over it before the senior citizen was shot dead.
Johnson's wife, Latoya, grieved over the loss of her husband after hearing the news, telling News 10 that her world is now gone.
"He was my world. He was my world," she said. "He was a good pastor, a kind, good-hearted man. Why would they do
that? Why would they take his life? Just take the chain and go home."
Mohammad Bashier, the supermarket owner who witnessed the murder, recalled the pastor as "a very nice man."
"I heard the shot. They went up behind him. And one grabbed him, and the other shot him," said Bashier.
Police questioned two men in connection with the pastor's death but no arrests have been made.
Pastor Johnson had served in Liberty City for more than a decade and friends in the area said he was a man who would open his heart and his wallet to help the community.
"He'd give anybody his last," Billy Denson, a Liberty City resident told News 10. "He didn't even have to know you and
he would give you his last."
Community leaders now believe that the pastor's death could spark an awakening in the community because of how connected he was.
"The rules of the street were broken because this guy lives and operates in this area," said pastor Vinson Spann, a
longtime friend of Johnson. "He feeds them, he gives his clothes."

Two men arrested with corpse of 3-year-old girl in Aba State (Photo)

Two men, Jonathan Nwogu from Mgboko Umuola in Obingwa LGA of Abia state and Chibuike Anubuife from Ezeagu LGA of Enugu State were arrested by the Abia state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC while trying to bury the corpse of a 3 year old girl in an abandoned pit in Osisioma, near Aba on Wednesday July 16th, Vanguard reports.
Parading the men before newsmen, the state commandant of the NSCDC, Andy Dateer, said the men were apprehended at Enyimba petrol station near Ariara International market, Aba as they tried to put the young girl's corpse in a sack for burial. A quarrel ensued between the men and another man who was to convey them to the point of burial in his car when men of the NSCDC, who were on a routine patrol around the city, saw them. Continue...
"As people started gathering, the owner of the car zoomed off and my men arrested the two suspects. If they had not been saved by my men, the public would have lynched them and the society would not be able to know the mystery behind their act" he said
Seaking with newsmen, one of the suspects, Chibuike said he met Jonathan for the first time on that day as he pleaded with him to help him bury the little child. Jonathan on the other hand said a man accosted him to help him bury the child.
The NSCDC boss said both suspects will be handed to the police for further investigations.

A Malaysian commercial airplane has crashed in Eastern Ukraine. 295 passengers and crew members on board all Dead

A Malaysian Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur has crashed in eastern Ukraine. There were 280 passengers and 15 crew members on board.
Ukrainian Interior Minister said all on board are dead and that the plane was shot down by Russian ground-to-air anti-aircraft missiles at 32,000 feet and at 500mph.
The plane, a Boeing 777, came down near the city of Donetsk, which is a border between Russia and Ukraine where a Ukrainian transport plane was shot down at 21,000 feet on Monday July 13th and a military jet shot down last week from the Russian side of the border.

President "Jonathan’s Re-election Bid May Break Nigeria" says Joe Igbokwe

Pro-democracy activist, Comrade Joe Igbokwe made this plead while addressing journalists in Lagos on Wednesday, 16 July, 2014, saying that Jonathan's reelection ambition is not in the nation's interest.
Igbokwe also stated that the harassment of the opposition, the Boko Haram insurgency and impeachment of opposition governors underscored the President's desperation to retain power.
The activist said these are among incidents that put democracy under threat in Nigeria.
Igbokwe stressed that if the quest for power was anchored on good performance, Dr. Jonathan is unfit for a second term because his handling of national affairs had been tragic and disastrous.
The activist urged the President to respect the zoning in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), adding that Jonathan's plan to rule for 10 years may break up the country.
Igbokwe said: "Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, from the South ruled Nigeria for eight years. It was also expected that the late President Umaru Yar'Adua, from the North, would rule for eight years, all other things being equal. But he died after two years in office. President Jonathan, Yar'Adua's erstwhile vice-president from the South, took over the mantle of leadership. It was expected that he would complete the first term of Yar'Adua's tenure and step aside for the North to complete their eight years.
"Against protests from the North, Jonathan sought another term and got elected. By 2015, he would have ruled for six years. Seeking another term of four years will endanger our polity and create ethnic and religious tension, as we are witnessing now. We are in a democracy and, if we are still one country, there is need for equity and justice. Jonathan's ambition to rule Nigeria for 10 years may break Nigeria."
The activist accused the Federal Government for waging war against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in order to make the PDP retain power.
It could be noted that President Jonathan has not declared his ambition for a re-election, but individuals and partisan groups have endorsed him for a second term and are urging him to publicly declare his interest.

Gunmen Abduct Bayelsa Commissioner’s 77-yr-Old Mum, Ask For His Resignation As Ransom.

The abduction, the latest in the series of high profile kidnappings in the predominantly riverine state, occurred 14 days after the abduction of the mother‑in‑law of the Bayelsa State Speaker in the creeks of Southern Ijaw council area.
This is said to have caused panic among political office holders in the state, many of whom have resorted to relocating their parents to Yenagoa, the state capital, from the hinterland.
It was learnt that the victim, identified as Madam Patimi Akene, was seized about midnight, Saturday, and whisked away by six armed men, who stormed her country home through the waterfront at the riverside town of Fonibiri in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.
The victim was said to be returning from a night vigil when she was seized by the gunmen who have since contacted her son, demanding his resignation from the State Executive Council as condition for her release
