House of Reps Say Okonjo-Iweala Forged And Faked Documents Concerning Missing N24bn Police Pension

Finance Minister Dr. Ngozi
Okonjo-Iweala was accused of
brandishing fake and forged documents
in her defence in the case of the N24bn
missing from Police pension fund.
The House of Representatives
Committee on Public Accounts argued
that the Minister had falsely claimed the
money was not missing but paid into
bank accounts.
Members of the Committee
included Director General of Pension
Transitional Arrangement Department,
Mrs. Nellie Mayshak, and representatives
of the Office of the Accountant General
of the Federation.
Chairman of the committee Mr. Solomon
Olamilekan maintained there are no
verifiable documents before the
committee to track the N24bn to any
bank accounts.
Moreover, Olamilekan noted, instead of
honouring the Committee's invitation to
discuss the issue, the Minister opted to
make a press statement on the ongoing
investigation.
The Committee, therefore, challenged
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala to a public debate
which would be broadcast live, with all
media representatives present, and
inform Nigerians on the fate of
N24bn.
