Boko Haram funded through CBN- says Denni Stephen

Just a day after he claimed that former Borno state Gov, Alimodu Sheriff and an unnamed retired army chief are sponsors of Boko Haram, he's now claiming that the insurgent group if funded through the CBN. In an interview with TheCable, Stephen claimed a senior official of the CBN handles the financial transactions of the sect group. What hs said below...
"One of the biggest of suppliers of arms and military uniforms to the JAS (Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'awati wal-Jihad, better known as Boko Haram) currently lives in Cairo, Egypt. He is the recipient of money sent by political sponsors from Nigeria. The funds go through the CBN's financial system and appear to be a legal transaction. Meanwhile, the CBN official who handles the funding is an uncle to three of those arrested in connection with the Nyanya bombings. The three boys lived with him. They were arrested by the SSS (Department of State Security) after the bombings but they do not seem to have been interrogated about their uncle in CBN. Or if they have given up information about their uncle then the SSS has not moved against him." Stephen said Continue...

He said he is speaking out now because he feels the Federal government is doing little in the rescue of the missing Chibok girls "I have three daughters. I just cannot stand the thought of what those girls are passing through. I have spoken to an escapee who described how she was being raped for 40 days by militants. I can't stand it. It is heart-breaking. Nigerian authorities must act decisively now," he said

When man was created he was ecstatic that he has come to a new world hence,this exhilaration subdued his thoughts and he forgot his aims and objectives,he slept off not knowing the commotion ahead is a huge one. No wonder a prolific writer asserted that "those heights attained by great men were not won suddenly but they, when their companions were busy toiling around they were busy reckoning how to succeed in life". From the above assertion we could deduce that"to sleep" does not mean to close your eyes only but it can also be identified as an act of unseriousness.
   Mankind loves to socialise and mingle always if not all the time but one needs to embrace the power of self discipline as far as this generation is concern. Remember if you are still busy toiling around you still need to wake up from your slumber because a time will come when time itself will not have time to give you time,then you will be left with your thoughts.And thoughts without actualization are meaningless,some have already woken up but they thought there is still time for corrections thus,sleeping became an everlasting problem for them which cannot be dismantled.
    Let me tell you one secret if you want to exhaust your time start sleeping ,then you will know that the term "Sleep" is also part of the factors that tarnishes one's dream . Some will say I have a dream,yes they do ,but how about the disease called sleeping sickness? Before  I depart remember that laziness is also a close friend to the term called "sleep"

Murder: Man Kidnaps His Own Father,Kills Him And Demands Ransome From Family

A young man said to be a member of a kidnap gang operating in Enugu State, Mr. Chukwuekezie Ofonago has shot his father dead. The suspect now in police net admitted to have shot his father, Mr. George Ofonago with a double-barrel gun at a hideout where he was kept while demanding an undisclosed sum as ransom from his family.According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu,the deceased had suddenly disappeared from his home prompting his family members to raise an alarm.
The son was fingered to have been involved in his father's disappearance in the course of the search.
"Following the sudden disappearance of the deceased, information got to the security operatives about the involvement of the son whom his family suspected reasonably to have played a suspicious role," .While the kidnappers continued to demand for ransom from their hideout, the son of the deceased was tracked down by the police.He gave an insight on how he abducted the father and took him to where he allegedly shot him dead with a single barrel gun and buried him in a shallow grave.
Chukwuekezie confessed that it was not his wish to shoot the father but that he was under pressure from the father who had instructed him to shoot him to death.

FG : Nigerians To Enjoy Steady Power Supply By October 2014

The Federal Government yesterday said plans have been put in place to ensure steady supply of electricity in the country by October 2014.
Minister of Power, Professor Chenedu Nebo who briefed State House Correspondents in Abuja said government has made efforts to ensure constant availability of gas at power stations to boast power generation.
Professor Nebo, who spoke after a meeting on power stakeholders at the presidential villa, Abuja, chaired by Vice President Namadi Sambo, added that the debt owed power generation companies would also be cleared.
He said "The generation companies have been complaining that they need to have all their bills paid. The good thing about this is that arrangements are being made to make sure that all the generation companies get their money as at when due.
"We are working on that. That is part of the meeting that was chaired by Mr Vice President.
"Next thing is how far we have come with the issue of even settling the gas question. The gas question has remained for quite a while. But very thankfully, the Honourable Minister of Petroleum Resources and I, the central bank governor and chairman of NERC met severally to address those issues.
"And that eventually ended in finding resources to take care of the indebtedness of the generation companies to the gas companies.
"So once we take care of the backlog, we insist that the gas companies will eventually produce more gas.''
He maintained that there are visible signs of government's efforts to ensure constant electricity supply across the country in the past one week following improved gas supply.
"The cheering news from all of these is that if you have noticed throughout the country in the past one week people have been getting much better power supply.
"The gas is now beginning to come back and it's something that gives all of us a lot of joy. And we know that it will continue to grow that way even until December because now some of the facilities, maintenance, repair works on the gas equipment and so on". He added.
"The gas producers have come to a place where almost all of these is being taken care of, and then the new gas we are expecting we have then trickling in right now.
"So that part of the shortfalls we've had in production up to this time, we hope that by the beginning of October, we will see a much better stabilisation of the entire power delivery system in the country.
Speaking on generation capacity, Nebo noted that power supply have hovered around 4,500 mega watts.
His words, "First, I would say we rejoice that for the first time in a long time we have been averaging over 4,500 MW when we include nearly 300 mw of spilling reserve which is always put there to make sure that the reliability and stability of the grid is ensured at all time.
"So, we are really moving forward; it may not be as rapidly as Nigerians expect but it is important to let everybody know that indeed we are advancing, we are making progress and we will continue to make progress".

BBC Confirms that Ebola has officially spread to Port Harcourt!
Nigeria has confirmed its first Ebola death outside Lagos – a doctor in the oil hub of Port Harcourt andHis wife has been put under quarantine,while a further 70 people in the city are under surveillance.
Ebola was taken to Nigeria by Patrick Sawyer, a Liberian-American man who travelled to Lagos before dying.
One of his contacts evaded Nigeria's surveillance team and travelled to Port Harcourt, where he sought medical treatment, Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu said.
Although the man later recovered, the doctor who treated him died and tests showed he had Ebola, the minister said.
The doctor had died last Friday but the results of the tests have only just been announced by the health minister.
The doctor who treated Mr Sawyer also died.
Nigeria schools shut
More than 240 health workers have been infected with Ebola - a rate which the World Health Organization (WHO) said was "unprecedented".
It noted that in many cases protective suits, even rubber gloves and face masks, were not available.
The doctor becomes the sixth fatality in Nigeria, which is Africa's most populous country.
On Wednesday, Nigeria announced that schools would not reopen until 13 October in order to
try and contain the disease.

   Before we proceed let's look at what the word "soon" implies. Soon means quickly,speedily and shortly. This word has been the only speech which mankind always see as a beacon of the maker. Years after years still man only saw the departure but the time he's coming is not certain . Some have even forgotten that the supreme being is coming soon.
   The question is,what if he does not come back,what will be the hope of mankind? Man at  the edge of  life contemplating on which way to go and which way not to go,all in the name of "soon" I hope mankind can still keep this hope till he comes back .Nobody is getting younger all are growing older and only some will be able to see his arrival. Those who always abides by his stipulations will dwell with him.I know some people will not want to ask questions,how about people who did not do his wishes where will they dwell?or are they not created from the same element called "sand"
    Man tend to be silent in order not to see the wrath of the supreme being. People are afraid that he may strike if sweet words are not spoken concerning him,if he struck then he is man but if he doesn't strike then he is God hence,the supreme being thinking is different from man.
   I hope he will come back as promised because mankind are going astray they are tired  thinking he would not come back again,all that is left is the biblical routines...hmm..even the way evil is radiating cannot be emphasised. I won't express much as you know I talk in parables or in a satire mood.
     Lets give ourselves a deep scrutiny.

All in the name of laws violated by mankind,So they became sagacious but this provoked the anger of the supreme being thus,he disciplined them for their disobedience,this act also affected the multitudes from generations to generations. So much care was given to man at first but when they refused to abide by the laws thus,the owner exhibited the power of discipline.
    However,man started struggling to satisfy and rectify that which he has committed. It is very pivotal to note that before the violation of the laws there was only good but after man trespassed hence,good and evil arose to stand as options. It is either you are good or evil,or you embrace both.At times things are usually going on well suddenly there comes a mixed of what we are not expecting which is often ascribe as predestination. Whether it is or it is not,it is from the maker.
    Mankind suffering from the sins of our progenitors even though we were not there yet we still have to pay for what we have not bought. The question is,where do we get the money?. Some have the capacity but they are in distress.Some are not  up to the task...hmm while some will still have some other challenges.
    I won't  say more, we should rationalise on that.

Guard stole & sold N23m jewellery for N1m ( Photo and full details)

Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad,SARS, have arrested three persons alleged to have burgled a store in Ikeja area of Lagos last December and carted away gold jewellery worth N23 million and over N100,000.One of the suspects was discovered to be a private guard to owner of the shop, one Mrs Ekong.
According to the 32-year- old father of two who hails from Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State......
"I found it difficult to secure a job because I am a secondary school drop-out. So, I decided to use a fake address to apply for security job last October, where I was paid N17,000 per month. But the money was not enough to fend for my wife and two children.
"At a point, a devilish thought came into my mind to burgle my boss' shop. I contacted two of my friends to assist and we went to buy chemicals which we poured on the wall. We left with the intention of coming back at midnight. By then the portion we poured the chemical would have weakened, thereby allowing us easy passage.
"But I did not wait for them to arrive before I broke into the shop. I went alone for two reasons: to get the largest share of the loot and to prevent a situation whereby their movement would attract people.
"I also decided to do it alone because I had earlier carried out similar burglary where I was a guard. I made away with gold chains and a cash of N108,000. I kept the cash to myself and gave 35 neck chains (gold) to Ogaba while I took the remaining to Yaba market where I sold them for N1,105,000.
"The original price was more than that. The person that bought it from me cheated me by cutting off the price tags on them. Some of them had price tags between N250,000 and N350,000. The least was N75,000.
"Ogaba told me he sold the 35 pieces I gave to him for N80,000 to one Jubril Garba. But I know he lied. But I did not argue with him. I told him that was his share.
"After the sales, I immediately moved my family to Benue State. I opened a hair dressing saloon for my wife and invested the rest in plank business. When my wife asked where I got the money from, I told her I was paid off at my place of work.
"Immediately, I destroyed the unregistered SIM card my boss was used to and started life afresh with a promise never to delve into crime again." However, eight months after the crime was committed, Obande was arrested in his home town. His arrest followed the confessional statement of one of his alleged partners in crime, Ogbulaja Ogaba.
Ogaba said: "I only got N80,000 but did not partake in the operation. Obande initially invited me to assist him burgle the gold supermarket.
"On the day in question, December 22, 2013, he later called me to meet him in a hotel where he gave me 35 pieces of jewellery to sell. I was yet to finish selling it when he called me on the phone that he was leaving Lagos for his home town."When I asked him about the money with me , he said I should have fun with it. I ended up using it to pay for my siblings West Africa Examinations Council ,WAEC examination fees."

FG postpones resumption of primary & secondary schools to Oct. 13th

The Federal Government has postponed the resumption of primary and secondary schools across the country to October 13th, it has been announced. Primary and Secondary schools were supposed to resume on September 22nd but about two weeks, FG postponed it indefinitely to prevent an outbreak of the Ebola Viral Disease. They announced today that schools can resume October 13th.
The Federal Government also stopped all summer schools

15yr old boy Electrocuted While Using Mobile Phone In Ado Ekiti

Tragedy struck in Okesa area of Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State when a 15 year old boy, Junior Abia died of electric shock while listening to music on his mobile phone through his earpiece, as the mobile phone was said to be connected to the wall socket while charging.

Junior's elder brother, Chibuzor ran into the room as soon as he heard him scream for help. As soon as he got into the room to discover that his brother was lying on the floor, he looked for a stick so he could remove the earpiece from Junior's ears. The Sunreports that when Chibuzor could not remove the earpiece from his brother's ears, he alerted the neighbours who immediately moved into action to rescue him. The mobile phone was eventually disconnected from the power socket, while Junior was quickly taken to the hospital within the area. Unfortunately, he died just before the rescue team could get to the hospital premises.

Recounting how the incident happened to the Sun,mother of theteenager, Mama Chibuzor who could not hold back tears from her eyes said:

"Junior had assisted me in cooking some rice for sale in my stand at Okesa market before I left home. But it was hardly two hours after I left that someone came running to me that Junior had been electrocuted. I immediately rushed to the scene and met people making frantic efforts to rescue him.

"We eventually removed the earpiece from his ears, unplugged the handset from the power socket and rushed him to the hospital. But he died just as we were aboutstepping into the hospital.

"I was told that Junior plucked the handset, which he also connected to the earpiece, into the power socket so as to charge the phone. He was also using the earpiece connected to the phone tolisten tosome music on the phone.
"Some people said he slept off while listening to the music on the phone and charging the phone at the same time. They said it was while doing that he suddenly shouted for help, and when people rushed to him, he was already gasping for air."
She however, said that her son would not have died if he got help on time:
"If there had been elderly people around, apart from his elder brother who wasn't clever enough to devise a better means of saving Junior, my son might have survived the electrocution."

When asked if it was a usual thing for his late son to listen to music on his mobile phone while charging it, Mama Chibuzor said:

"I only know that he was an obedient boy who didn't get into trouble with anyone. He was also very dutiful; he never got tired of running errands in the house at anytime. Only God understands why this happened to him," she said.

His body was committed to mother-earth three days after he was confirmed dead. The mother also said all his pictures, clothes, and every other thing that could bring back memories of him have been removed by the family.

ARTICLE: Who Should Be Blamed ?

All what I have being hearing is that,parents should be blamed for the lackadaisical attitudes geared towards their children. When they grew things changed because proper training were not given to them....hmm,what a nice accusation but let's ask ourselves this question;if we were not trained can't we train ourselves?

   Our relaxation is more than our seriousness, we are waiting for those who will bring us to limelight. For how long shall we continue expecting a sudden miracle which may occur or may not occur.If lack of good training will make an individual to go astray  then the rationalistic  ideas or innate ideas incorporated in mankind needs to be questioned,as individual one way or the other you have the ability to think and reason but if laziness is permitted you might lose the ability to rationalise which may also affect your empirical analysis. What do I mean? When man thinks he activates his mental powers which will support some evidences.

    I hope your parents will not be blamed for your shortcomings. No matter the circumstances or situations you are going through remember some have went through them,some will go through them and some are still facing the challenges. Although parents should also be blamed but not always remeber you are a dictator of your life.

"Lucky Dr Kent Brantly, the American doctor who has recovered from Ebola, having been given a dose of the experimental antibody serum Zmapp, whizzed home to the US, and given another dose. He is now thanking God for saving his life. Through the medical team and drugs, he admits, but ultimately, it seems, God was in charge. And he chose Brantly, not the other 1,200 mainly west African people who have died horribly, which seems a bit picky.
It must be lovely for Brantly to be so sure of things. I tried, aged 10, to work out whether God was around or not, but couldn't. "What was his actual shape?" I wondered. And how could he be everywhere, all at once? How big, for example, was his toenail? Did it cover Ruislip, where I lived? I imagined him constantly on the go, distant enough for an effective overview and able to home in on catastrophes and act. But it was very hit and miss. Would he be on the spot when you needed him, like Brantly did? On and on I went for years, trying to believe in him. I even went camping with a tremendously religious youth organisation, but despite the prayers and observances, even the devout did some frightfully rude things in their tents. And there was no divine retribution. I gave up on God, for ever.
Millions didn't. They seem to be obeying his instructions to the letter, which isn't doing the world any favours. But at last, a bit of good news. The Jehovah's Witnesses are mellowing. They havea new tactic. Instead of just knocking on doors, they're also allowed to stand beside their literature, smiling, near shops and stations, letting us approach voluntarily. Marvellous. It's a shame they didn't do this years ago, when my old friend was a Jehovah's Witness. She was terrified sick of being sent to knock on our door. Luckily it never happened.
If only all religions would take this hands-off approach and let us all believe whatever we like. No pressure. I hope that one day, that will happen. I would say "Please, God," but I can't

   Although freewill has been given to man ,but to some extent that which is given can be operated,in order words his love for mankind is so strong in such a way that he always protects our wishes which may be good or bad. However mankind lavished his love and they forgot his laws and the grievances he went through to establish the world,mankind and other valuable things.

    He gave mankind the opportunity to retrieve his lost glory still the gate is opened and the gate is locked, man at the middle of an ocean looking for a way out . What should mankind do?. At times I wonder why man had to pay this huge price which keeps him struggling yet he has not found his balances.

#Ebola: British National test positive in Sierra Leone

A British national residing in Sierra Leone has tested positive to the deadly Ebora virus. According to a statement released by the British Department of Health, medical experts were assessing the situation 'to ensure that appropriate care is delivered". The statement also added that Consular assistance is being provided to the Briton.
The Deputy Chief Medical Officer of the Department of Health, Professor John Watson said;
"The overall risk to the public in the UK continues to be very low. Medical experts are currently assessing the situation in Sierra Leone to ensure that appropriate care is provided. We have robust, well-developed and well-tested NHS systems for managing unusual infectious diseases when they arise, supported by a wide range of experts."Meanwhile, Ivory Coast has closed its land borders with Liberia and Guinea, two countries strongly hit by the deadly virus. Angel Di Maria may join Manchester United before the end of the new week, reports have suggested, for a deal in the region of £50 million
The 26-year-old midfielder, who has gone than the pecking order at Real Madrid had during the week asked to leave the club, leaving the door open for United, who suffers lack of creative depth in its midfield to make the Argentinian a United player.
However, the club seemed to be taking too much time to make a formal bid, getting fans over social networking sites yesterday, post threats and pleas to the Board at Old Trafford.
Although the club has refused to comment on the potential arrival of Di Maria at Old Trafford, Spanish journalist Guillem Balague posted on twitter that the midfielder's agent Jorge Mendes was flying to Manchester to finalise the switch in a deal said to be worth £56 million.

UK's Mirror also reported that Di Maria had told friends in Spain he has accepted a £180,000 per week offer from Manchester United and that he demanded for the No 7 shirt.
The deal if completed in the coming days, is expected to renew team confidence and help United refocus on the job at hand after opening day loss to Swansea at Old Trafford.

Murder: 20 Yr-Old Covenant Varsity Student Was Kidnapped & Murdered In Lagos (click to see photos and full details)

Lagos State Police Command is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the kidnap and m****r of a 20-year-old undergraduate, identified asJohn Chinedu Okere,who until his death was a 300 level Electrical Engineering student at Covenant University, Otta in Ogun State.
According to reports, Chinedu left his parent's house in the morning of Wednesday, August 6, 2014, to a Hospital in Yaba, Lagos for medical reasons and never returned. He reportedly left home with about N6000 and that was the last time he was seen alive.
The mysterious disappearance of Chinedu, caused a stir as the parents ran helter-skelter, in search of him to no avail. They gathered from some family members that one of his friends called on phone earlier that morning to tell him to meet him at an undisclosed hotel.
KIDNAP
Crime Guard learnt that at about mid-day,the victim's father, Jude Okere, received an SMS notifying him that Chinedu had been kidnapped. Later, he received a phone call from a hidden number demanding N10 million ransom for the release of his son. The caller allegedly threatened to kill the victim if the parents refused to comply as the line went dead.
FATHER'S TESTIMONY
Chinedu's father said: " At about mid-day, I received an SMS that John had been kidnapped. Later, I received a phone call from a hidden number. The
caller said they had my son, Chinedu and demanded N10 million as ransom threatening to kill him if we refuse to comply. Immediately, I inquired who the caller was, the line went dead. My wife and I quickly reported the case to the Divisional Police Station at Sabo, Yaba."
After the case was reported to the Police at Sabo, Yaba, it was later transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja the next day where investigations commenced.
DEAD BODY IN A HOTEL ROOM
It was learnt that initially when the whole issue started, the family of the victim felt it was a kidnap that would just be resolved but unfortunately, as events continued to unfold, it turned out to be a premeditated m****r.
Shockingly, the decomposing corpse of Chinedu was discovered in one of the rooms at 'DE Homes Hotel' located in Ejigbo by one of their staff, two days later.
According to reports, the Manager of the hotel went to Ejigbo Divisional Police Station on Friday, 8, 2014, to report the case of m****r and investigation began.
HOW SUSPECTS CHECKED INTO HOTEL
A reliable source in the hotel intimated that early on Wednesday morning, the prime suspect, Okorocha Michael along with another young man simply identified as Okey,checked into the hotel with the name Christian. "He booked the room for three days with the name Christian.
He claimed he is a youth corps member who wanted to write exams and would be there from that Wednesday to Friday. He also said he was expecting his cousin to join him in the hotel.
'After booking, Michael left his friend Okey in the hotel and returned an hour before the victim, Chinedu arrived the hotel, which was at about 3pm that day. As soon as Chinedu arrived the hotel, Michael took him to the room. We don't know what happened inside the room. However, it was later gathered that during their stay in the room, the suspect reportedly confronted the victim on some personal issues. The confrontation eventually led to a heated argument, which later led to the suspect strangulating the victim to death. On Friday, a hotel staff discovered the lifeless body of the young man and alerted the police."
ABANDONED IN A POOL OF BLOOD
According to reports, Chinedu was murdered and left in the pool of his blood by unfriendly friends, who brutally killed and abandoned his corpse, went ahead and demanded for ransom from his parents.
ARREST OF SUSEPCTS
Crime Guard learnt the 24-year-old suspect, Okorocha Michael, who was arrested on Sunday, in a friend's house around Ajah area in Lagos, is a graduate of Lagos City Polytechnic, Ikeja. He has been unemployed since he completed his youth service in February this year.
APPEAL FOR JUSTICE
A family member who spoke on the condition of anonymity revealed that the Okere's were willing to pay the ransom, and were still trying to get it when his corpse was discovered. 'We sincerely pray that law takes it full course, his killers brought to book and Chinedu will get the justice he deserves even in death,' the source stated.

Operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja, Lagos have smashed a syndicate that specialize in selling human parts, Vanguardreports.
The 3 suspects whose names were given as Mustapha Muritala, Sunday Oluyeba and Adenike Olanrewaju, were arrested at the Ojumerin area of Sagamu, Ogun State following a tip off. Recovered from the suspects were two human skulls suspected to have been procured from a graveyard.
When interrogated, one of the suspects, 42 year old Herbalist Mustapha Murtala, said he ventured into the business two years ago following an offer of N30,000 for a human skull. Continue...
"I am a herbalist from Sagamu, Ogun State. I was introduced to human parts business by one Sunday Oluyeba I knew through my friends, Olanipekun and Kazim, three years ago. My friends asked me to get native birds called eyeoshi and eyeoke, and I succeeded in getting them. They later came and requested a human head with an offer of N30,000. They said they wanted to use it to prepare concoction for a pregnant woman in labour . They told me they also use human parts to prepare concoction for women who have difficulty in getting pregnant. What they do is to grind the human skull, mix it with water and give to the woman to drink. Such concoction cleanses the stomach, after which she would become pregnant. Sunday brought the human head and I paid him N15,000 for it. This is the second time I am buying a human skull from him. I do not know where he got them from."Recounting how he was arrested, Mustapha said
"I was going about my herbal business when a man came and demanded human skull. As I handed the nylon where I kept it to him, some men I later discovered to be policemen swooped on me. I have never killed anyone in my life." he saidAfter his arrest, he was made to put a call across to his partner in crime, Oluyeba, demanding a human head. Oluyeba, who was indisposed, instructed one of his herbalist friends, Baba Beji, to go for the supply. He was arrested when he got there.
Further investigations by police led to the arrest of another suspect in Sagamu. The suspect, Juwon Olarewaju, another herbalist, reportedly fled on sighting policemen and his wife, Mrs Olarewaju was arrested instead.
34 year old Mrs Olarewaju, said she was shocked to find out her husband was involved in such a trade. She said;
"I have been married to Juwon for five years and we have two children. My husband is a herbalist but I didn't know he was dealing in human parts. I was arrested in my house at about 2am over the weekend. I swear, I didn't know anything about all these. I was arrested because my husband whom they came to arrest ran away. These people implicated my husband in the matter; they said my husband supplied them with a human head." she saidPolice say the suspects will soon be charged to court.

A 37-year-old mother of three, Ezeh Ifeoma Maureen (pictured above), has been arrested with substances suspected to be cannabis by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
According to The Nation, Maureen was caught at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos, during outward screening of China-bound Ethiopian Airlines' passengers for allegedly attempting to smuggle 6.200 kilogrammes of dried weeds that tested positive for cannabis.
The agency's Airport Commander, Mr. Hamza Umar, said the suspect told the officers that her bags contained vegetables and foodstuff. Continue...
"She declared the content of her bags as vegetables and foodstuff, but during a search, the vegetables turned out to be cannabis weighing 6.200 kilogrammes. The drug was packed in two parcels."
The suspect, who hails from Anambra State, said:
"I am a business woman; I sell women's clothes at the Onitsha main market. I usually export foodstuff to China and import female dresses to Nigeria. One of my customers in China called to tell me that his brother would give me two parcels of vegetables to bring to him. I collected the parcels at the airport from the boy. Unfortunately, when they tested them, I was told that they contained cannabis."
Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, advised the public to learn from the cases of those arrested for drug trafficking.
"This mother of three children would have been killed in China for drug trafficking if she was not apprehended here. It is important for the public to learn from her experience and shun drug trafficking," he said.
Giade warned passengers not to collect items from people, who will not be there during a search.
The suspect, Giade said, would be charged to court for unlawful possession of, and attempt to export cannabis.

A 19yr old r-apes chicken to death in Ondo, (see full details)

A 19 year old welder apprentice was caught yesterday August 19th after having sex with a chicken at the Continental area of Akure, the Ondo state capital.
According to reports by Vanguard, the boy was discovered to have committed the act after the owner of the chicken, Mrs Stella Akintola, who is the boy's neighbor and reared chickens in the compound, heard her chickens making noise inside their pen and decided to go and find out why they were restless. When she got to her hen pen, the young man surfaced from a corner and said he had stomach upset and was on his way out of the compound toilet. Mrs Akintola not suspecting anything then moved to use the compound toilet where she discovered one of her chickens lying dead in the toilet.
When she tried to raise an alarm, the young man quickly appealed to her not to shout confessing that he was responsible for the chickens death and promised to replace the dead chicken. However when she examined the chicken with some of her neighbors, they discovered that the young man had actually had sex with the chicken until it died.
His neighbours said it wasn't his first time, that he'd been driven out of his village, Afo in Ose council area of the state after being caught having sex with a goat. He moved out of the village to stay with his brother in Akure where he committed the same act.
When interrogated, the suspect said a spirit actually directed him to commit the crime.
"I was already sleeping when a spirit just came upon me and directed me to go to the back of the building. I did not know what I was doing again until when I discovered that I had slept with the hen." he said

See how Fire Renders Over 5000 People Homeless In Ebute Metta lagos

A fire outbreak which started on Monday night around 8pm and extended to the early hours of Tuesday morning has engulfed five buildings and a sawmill in Oko-Baba area of Ebute-Metta, Lagos, displacing over 5,000 persons and destroying properties worth millions of naira.
According to a resident, a boy was preparing noodles on the stove that night, close to where a generator was, and suddenly an explosion occurred. The fire began to spread to other buildings till it reached a near by sawmill and other shops around.
No casualty was recorded but several persons reportedly sustained injuries in the resultant stampede.

2 Sentenced To 10years Imprisonment Each With Hard Labour In Nigeria For R_ape

Two nationals of Benin Republic were yesterday sentenced to 10 years imprisonment each for r_ping a 20-year old Nigerian girl who hawks sweets.
It was learnt that the young girl was hawking sweets around Yansiwhe in Makoko area of Lagos State when they called her and bought some sweets from her, but refused to pay her, and r_ped her instead.
The men, who were six in number, took turns to r_pe her until she fainted. They later revived her and asked her to leave the primary school premises where the incident took place and go home to take care of herself. But instead of going home she went straight to Yaba police station where she reported the matter.
Setonji 40, and Abraham Huvensu, 25, pictured above were later arrested and arraigned. The four others according to police are still at large but efforts are been made to track them down.
The chief magistrate after finding the two men guilty sentenced them to 10years imprisonment with hard labour.

Some soldiers refuse to fight Boko Haram,they demand for better equipment

About 40 Nigerian soldiers are reported to have refused orders from their superior to move to the North to fight Boko Haram, saying they will only obey the order if they are provided with better equipment.

One of the mutineers who spoke anonymously with BBC Hausa said lack of good weapons and ammunition to fight the terror group is why a lot of soldiers get slaughtered by the insurgents, adding that the Nigerian army is not ready to fight Boko Haram

"Soldiers are dying like fowl. The Nigerian army is not ready to fight Boko Haram. Boko Haram are inside the bush, everywhere. They (senior commanders) are sacrificing soldiers" he said.

The mutineer also stated that the armored cars they are expected to use in battle are old and outdated.
He said he could not be court marshaled by his superior for taking part in the mutiny because only soldiers who decline to take part in wars are court-marshaled, stating that he and his other colleagues are not declining to go to war but are only asking for better equipments before they go to war.
"I joined the army to defend my country but you cannot defend it without being equipped to do so" he said

Jackie Chan’s Son Jaycee Chan Arrested After Being tested positive for marijuana

Jackie Chan's son has become the latest celebrity to be detained on drug-related charges in one of China's biggest anti-drug crackdowns in two decades.
Jaycee Chan, 31, was arrested last Thursday along with the 23-year-old Taiwanese star Kai Ko, Beijing police said on Monday.
It is unclear why the announcement of the detentions was delayed for several days.
Police said both actors tested positive for marijuana and admitted using the drug, and that 100g of it was taken from Chan's home.
Jaycee Chan's management, M'Stones International, apologised to the public on his behalf for the "social impact" caused in a statement on their website. It said they would "supervise his rehabilitation and help him return to the right path".
Jaycee Chan was born and raised in Los Angeles and has tried to launch a film and music career, which has not flourished. He is known as a playboy in China and is said to have frustrated his father with his extravagant lifestyle.
The detentions follow a declaration in June by President Xi Jinping that illegal drugs should be wiped out and that offenders would be severely punished. In Beijing alone, more than 7,800 people have been caught in the crackdown, police said.

Chinese state broadcaster CCTV aired footage of a police search of the younger Chan's home in Beijing in which he is depicted, his face pixelated, showing officers where he stashed bags of marijuana. Police said they acted on a tip-off from the public.
Chan is accused of accommodating drug users, an offence that carries a maximum sentence of three years' imprisonment – a far more serious charge than that of drug consumption.
Two other people detained in the same case were accused of selling drugs while Ko is accused of drug consumption.
China named the elder Chan an anti-drug ambassador in 2009.
Ko, the Taiwanese star, was part of an anti-drug campaign two years ago, CCTV reported, showing footage of the campaign in which he joins other celebrities in a chorus declaring: "I don't use drugs."
He was shown on CCTV, his face pixelated, tearfully apologising to his fans and family.
"I feel very regretful, very sorry to all the people who support me … I've been a very bad example, I've made a very big mistake," he said.

Boko Haram Member Arrested While Attempting To Bomb Murtala Mohammed Airport In Lagos

TRAGEDY was, on Monday, averted at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, when a suspected Boko Haram member was arrested while attempting to detonate an explosive at the Centrex unit of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), at the international wing of the airport.According to information gathered, the suspect was able to gain access under the guise that he was a physically-challenged, which truly he is.
Security men of the agency, sensing his unusual movement while trying to press an object, got him apprehended, upon which he was caught with an explosive detonator.
The airport police command was promptly alerted, while the suspected bomber was handed over to them.
The suspect was then taken to the Beesam police station, Airport command, where he is currently undergoing interrogation.
Reacting to the incident, NAMA refuted that the suspected bomber was arrested at one of the its facilities at the international wing of the airport.
According to a statement by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Supo Atobatele, the suspect was making phone calls on the airport road, close to CENTREX, an annex office of NAMA, when he was apprehended by security personnel.
"The basic truth, however, is that the said suspect was on the ground making calls when the agency's security personnel accosted him.
"His incoherent explanation exposed him to the security personnel who later found on him some devices suspected to be explosives," the statement read.
The Managing Director of NAMA, Mr Ibrahim Abdulsalam, in his reaction, commended the security personnel for their vigilance.

Police recover, return N15m to Sokoto robbery victim (see full details and photo)

The Sokoto state Police command has recovered and returned N15million which was stolen from an unidentified man by a 5-man armed robbery gang at the Ilela border market in Ilela LGA of Sokoto state onJune 1st.
Parading the suspects with the money recovered at the Sokoto state Police command headquaters, DCP Douglas Agbonleni who spoke on behalf of the Sokoto State Commissioner of Police, Gambo Lawal, gave an insight on how the robbers were able to dislodge their victim of the money and how they were subsequently caught. "The robbery operation was successful as they were able to dispossess their target of over N15 million cash at the Ilela border market, after firing into the air to scare people. We received the information at about6pm on June 1and instantly went on stop-and-search operation and our men at Rabbah local government found a black colour Volkswagen Golf car with registration number Jigawa AG 569 HJA along the forest route and apprehended three of the criminals while the other two escaped" he said. The three robbers arrested were identified as Joseph Ohakin, ThankGodSunday, Emmanuel Ugo (aka Ifeanyi). Apart from the money, other items recovered from them were weapons including locally made and foreign assorted rifles neatly concealed in the seats of the vehicle.
The Police said after they arrested the armed robbers in the bush, the robbers offered to give them the stolen N15million on the condition that they let them go, but the police men declined the offer. The police then launched a search for the remaining two robbers who escaped. A mobile phone which they used in communicating was used to track down the other two criminals.
"When the first three were arrested, we searched the vehicle and recovered the money, we discovered a GSM telephone and upon diligent investigation, we traced that phone to Kano and our detectives proceeded to Kano where we were able to trace the owner of that phone who was a member of the robbery gang and had escaped from Illela. We discovered that the telephone belongs to one Habibu Abdullahi (Alias 02). He is popularly called 02 in Kano. We picked him up and we knew that they were about five members in that gang. So after arresting and interrogating Habibu Abdullahi, the fifth member of the gang, Garba Ismail was traced to a suburb of Kano and picked up also. So all the five members of the gang that came here to rob at the Illela town have been picked up," he said.The owner of the N15m stolen who was present at the press briefing confirmed he had received his money.

Mr. Ribadu was the presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2011 and until his defection yesterday considered one of the presidential prospects of the APC in the 2015 presidential election.

A man in his ear­ly 20's yester­day met his un­timely death in Aba, Abia state, when he was pushed down from a moving com­mercial bus, and even­tually crushed by an­other commercial bus that was coming from behind.
Sunday Sun reports that the young man whose identity could not be immediately ascertained had boarded the commercial bus that was heading towards the Aba main motor park.
It was also gathered that the men in the commercial bus attempted to dispossess him of his belongings in­side the bus.But the young man was said to have resisted the hoodlums, and the driver of the bus veered off Asa road in the melee into Azikiwe Road where they opened the door of their vehicle and pushed the young man out of the moving bus.
To make matters worse for the young man, a com­mercial bus said to be com­ing from behind from the Ariaria market axis crushed him and killed him instant­ly.
An eye witness said,
"The commercial bus veered into Azikiwe Road from Asa Road on high speed, and before anybody knew what was happening, some men inside the bus pushed the young man out from the bus and sped off.Before people around could rush to give him a helping hand, another com­mercial bus coming from Ariaria market crushed him, and he died instantly."When Sunday Sunvisited the scene of the incident, the corpse of the young man was still lying in the middle of the road as plain clothe police men who ar­rived the place were trying some numbers they found on his mobile phone to con­tact his relations

I got into the car and was so tired to Drive to one of my friends Drove, on our way back I saw a friend I haven't seen in a while at another club trying to park I stopped to say hi and we entered the second club after a few minutes I decided to leave, right outside the club is a shawarma spot I got some and then I and my friends were headed Home and I was trying to eat my sharwama while my friend drove us home. That's the Last I could remember. I found myself covered with Airbags and I came out of that car that tumbled and a good Samaritan took us to the Hospital. EFCC Arrest Former Bank Manager for N81million fraud (full details)

A former branch manager of one of the new generation banks, (Ecobank Plc), Victor Amushie has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for a credit fraud in the sum of N81, 024, 749.28( Eighty One Million, Twenty-Four Thousand, Seven Hundred and Forty Nine Naira, Twenty Eight kobo only).
The suspect allegedly packaged loan facilities for himself, using several names and accounts of some customers of his bank, with whom he shared the proceeds.
The loans went bad and the bank had to hold Amushie, who was on the verge of running out of the country before being apprehended by operatives of the EFCC.
Details of the loan disbursement showed that he granted a total sum of N57, 979, 024. 07( Fifty Seven Million, Nine Hundred and Seventy Nine Thousand, Twenty Four Naira, Seven kobo only) to Onezh Oil and Gas Limited; N11, 317, 562.73( Eleven Million, Three Hundred and Seventeen Thousand, Five Hundred and Sixty Two Naira, Seventy Three kobo) to Esubeb Staff Multipurpose Cooperative and N11, 728, 162. 48 (Eleven Million, Seven Hundred and Twenty Eight Thousand, One Hundred and Sixty Two Naira, Forty Eight kobo only) to Ogochukwu Amanda.
Amushie is in the custody of the EFCC and will be charged to court as soon is investigation is concluded.

Murder: Guard R apes 9-Year Old To Death In Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old security guard, identified as Gideon Musa, for raping a nine-year-old girl to death in the state capital.
According to reports, the suspect, who is a guard near the victim's house, took the teenager to a nearby bush and r aped her to death.
However, father of the deceased, Mr. Edwin Ode Ominiyi of Umuchigbo, a community in Abakpa Enugu East council area, was said to have reported the disappearance of her daughter to the police.
Confirming the incident on Wednesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ebere Amaraizu, said the victim, according to her father, suddenly disappeared at about 1 pm, which resulted to a search and subsequent report at the police station.
Following the report, Amaraizu said the policemen swung into action, spreading their tentacles within the arena and environs.
According to Amaraizu, "a search was, however, intensified by the father assisted by the suspect. During the search, the suspect pretended to be assisting until the policemen were informed that he was the last to be seen with the victim.

"Following this revelation, Musa, popularly known as Aboki Mai-guard, was invited and questioned by the police. He then confessed that he took the victim to a nearby bush where he had car nal knowledge of her until she became unconscious and fainted.

"He further revealed that when the victim fainted, he had to run out from the bush. When he took the operatives to the place, the lifeless body of little Endurance was seen lying n ak*d with blood gushing out from her private part."
Meanwhile, Police has confirmed that the state's Criminal and Investigation Department has commenced investigations just as the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Parklane Hospital Enugu mortuary for autopsy.

The Residents of Agiliti, Mile 12 Lagos, woke up today to a gruesome sight. The headless body of a young man was found on a side street. On closer inspection, it was discovered that his manhood had also been cut off. People suspect it was ritual murder but no one knows for sure what happened. The murdered man has since been identified by people who claim to know him.

19yr old boy arrested for allegedly having sex with a Dog in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old boy in Iguosa community, Ovia North East Local Government Area, for allegedly having sex with a dog.
The young man, identified simply as Osagiator, was said to have taken the dog to an uncompleted building where he had sex with it.‎
A resident in the community, George Ogbonmwan, while narrating how the teenager was caught, said he had saw the suspect with the dog and had thought that he wanted to steal it.
He added that he decided to call the attention of the owner, Garuba Samari.‎
"When I saw the way the young man carried the dog like a baby, I decided to tell the owner. We went to the uncompleted building and caught the boy sleeping with the dog," ‎However, the suspect, who claimed that he resided in Uselu in Benin, said he was a regular visitor to Iguosa community, where he sought menial jobs.He explained that he did not know what came over him.
He said,
"I was walking along the street. I saw a dog following me and I carried it like a baby. I just went into the uncompleted building where I did what I did to it. I don't know what came over me."Samari,the owner of the dog quickly disowned his pet..‎
"The dog has to follow him. I have nothing to do with the dog again," ‎The Odionwere of the community, Pa Clifford Igiehon, and the scribe, Festus Obadiaru, said,
