FG To Phase Out Water Satchets, Other Plastics

The Federal Ministry of Environment has developed a
draft action plan for the phasing out of light weight
non-biodegradable plastics in the country, a top
official of the ministry, said, yesterday.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity,
told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Abuja, said
that the draft action plan had already been adopted
by stakeholders in the sector.
He recalled that the ministry, in collaboration with
the United Nations Industrial Development
Organisation, UNIDO, had in December 2013,
organised a workshop to sensitise Nigerians on the
process.
"What we intend to do now is to follow the
implementation of the action plan since the
awareness has already started; the next step is to
source funds from UNIDO to implement the plan.
"Once we have funds, we will continue with other
activities in the process of phasing out heavy non-
biodegradable plastics."
The official said it was not possible to completely
phase out non-biodegradable plastics because of its
importance in the society.
He cited the example of a plastic chair, which is a
non-biodegradable component, to buttress his point.
He said that the ministry would start with the
phasing out of light weight non-degradable plastics
such as table water sachets and polythene bags.
"Those countries that have succeeded in phasing out
the substance started with placing a ban on the light
weight ones.
"Countries like China and South Africa have placed
outright ban on light weight plastic bags while some
other countries have placed tax levies on the
manufacture, retailer and buyers of light weight
bags.
"We are going to be gradual in the phasing out
process as well, so that we will not cause havoc to
the livelihood of people working in the industry.
"We will also use alternative sources that are
economically feasible and environment-friendly to
replace the non-degradable products," the official
said.
He further said that the ministry would start the
process of phasing out with a pilot project whereby
manufacturers would be required to introduce a
substance called "addictive" that would reduce the
non-biodegradable component in their products.
NAN reports that several countries have adopted
measures to reduce the production and use of plastic
materials by the imposition of taxes, fines, restriction
or outright ban of plastic shopping bags.
The countries include South Africa, Taiwan, Kenya,
Rwanda, Bangladesh, Mecedonia, China, Hong Kong,
Denmark, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico and United
Arab Emirates, among others.

20 Domestic Uses Of Coca Cola

It is safe to call coke a bleaching agent. Coca Cola is
the most recognized trademark in the world, and it is
the world's second-most famous word after "Hi".
However, the drink itself is a real poison to the
human metabolism. The level of acidity of coke is
almost the same as the acidity level of a battery acid.
In addition to that, Coke can clean dirty surfaces
almost the same to and often much more better than
the most used toxic household cleaners.
Clean water is more expensive than a bottle of
Coca Cola in many countries. Coke has made a lot of
efforts in advertising to get people consumer blindly
this beverage that is very destructive for our body.
Those who consume sodas such as Coca Cola
have a 48% increase in heart attack and stroke
risk, compared to people who do not drink the
sodas at all or did not drink them every day. A
study published in the journal Respirology reveals
that soft drink consumption is also associated with
lung and breathing disorders including asthma and
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
The carbonation in Coke causes calcium loss in
the bones through a 3-stage process:
1. The carbonation irritates the stomach.
2. The stomach "cures" the irritation the only
way it knows how. It adds the only antacid at
its disposal: calcium. It gets this from the blood.
3. The blood, now low on calcium, replenishes
its supply from the bones. If it did not do this,
muscular and brain function would be severely
impaired.
But, the story doesn't end there. Another problem
with most Coke is it also contain phosphoric acid
(not the same as the carbonation, which is carbon
dioxide mixed with the water). Phosphoric acid also
causes a draw-down on the body's store of calcium.
So Coke softens your bones (actually, makes them
weak and brittle) in 3 ways:
1. Carbonation reduces the calcium in the bones.
2. Phosphoric acid reduces the calcium in the
bones.
3. The beverage replaces a calcium-containing
alternative, such as milk or water. Milk and
water are not excellent calcium sources, but
they are sources.
Esophageal cancer was very rare two generations
ago—now, it's common. The basic mechanism
works as follows:
1. Mechanical damage to cells is a huge risk
factor for cancer. It's why asbestos particles,
for example, cause lung cancer.
2. All soft drinks cause acid reflux (stomach acid
rising up past the esophageal valve). This is
more pronounced when the body is horizontal
(as in sleeping), but the sheer volume of Coke
and soft drinks consumed in the USA means
the acid reflux is well past the danger point.
Any time you ingest a gassy drink, you are going to
get belching–and acid into the esophagus. How much
is too much? The research doesn't say where the
limit is–it only shows that most of us are far, far, far
past it.
3. Stomach acid dissolves tissue — that's its
purpose. The stomach lining does not extend
into the esophagus, so the lower esophagus gets
damaged by acid far more frequently in soft drink
users than in non soft drink users. This results in a
radical increase in cell mutations, along with a far
higher level of free radicals.
Coke acts as an acidic cleaner. The amount of acid in
soda is enough to wear away at the enamel of your
teeth, making them more susceptible to decay. In
tests done on the acidity levels of soda, certain ones
were found to have PH levels as low as 2.5. To put
that into perspective, consider that battery acid has a
pH of 1 and pure water has a pH of 7.
To prove Coke does not belong in the human
body, here are 20 practical ways you can use
Coke as a domestic cleaner:
1. Removes grease stains from clothing and
fabric
2. Removes rust; methods include using fabric
dipped in Coke, a sponge or even aluminum foil. Also
loosens rusty bolts
3. Removes blood stains from clothing and
fabric.
4. Cleans oil stains from a garage floor; let the
stain soak, hose off.
5. Kills slugs and snails; the acids kills them.
6. Cleans burnt pans; let the pan soak in the
Coke, then rinse.
7. Descales a kettle (same method as with burnt
pans)
8. Cleans car battery terminals by pouring a small
amount of Coke over each one.
9. Cleans your engine; Coke distributors have
been using this technique for decades.
10. Makes pennies shine; soaking old pennies in
Coke will remove the tarnish.
11. Cleans tile grout; pour onto kitchen floor, leave
for a few minutes, wipe up.
12. Dissolves a tooth; Use a sealed container…
takes a while but it does work.
13. Removes gum from hair; dip into a small bowl of
Coke, leave a few minutes. Gum will wipe off.
14. Removes stains from vitreous china.
15. Got a dirty pool? Adding two 2-liter bottles of
Coke clears up rust.
16. You can remove (or fade) dye from hair by
pouring diet Coke over it.
17. Remove marker stains from carpet. Applying
Coke, scrubbing and then clean with soapy
water will remove marker stains.
18. Cleans a toilet; pour around bowl, leave for a
while, flush clean.
19. Coke and aluminum foil will bring Chrome to
a high shine.
20. Strips paint off metal furniture. Soak a towel in
Coke and lay it on the paint surface.
Now can you imagine what is does to your
stomach lining? Who needs the 'household and
cleaning' section at the hardware store when we
have Coke?

Scary Shrine Where Money Rituals And Other Fraudulent Acts Goes On Daily Uncovered In Ife

This is a must read for all to learn lessons of life and
avoid becoming a victim. It is for real. Merely looking
at the images within a shrine discovered in Ife, Osun
State, is enough to make many become lily-livered.
While it was initially thought to be a haven for rituals,
arrested suspect has confessed to have employed
tricks to hoodwink his victims.
THE Osun State Police Command has made a
startling discovery of a shrine at Mosarajo village,
along Ifewara road, via Ile-Ife, Osun State, built
purposely to swindle undetecting people who are
seeking spiritual help from traditional doctors.
For those who are not strong hearted, a visit to the
shrine would send shivers down their spine while
they are likely to have nightmares over and over
again because of the scary images and fetish objects
found within the premises. Information revealed that
the hideout, built deep into the bush, by one Aliyu
Mutairu, a.k.a. Abu Ragbaja an indigene of Inisa
town, Osun State, was discovered when a part of his
fence collapsed and some of the images were sighted
by those who passed by the fenced structure.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police Mohammed
Jimoh reportedly led detectives to Lamecco area,
Ilobu road where one Aliyu Mutairu, suspected to be
the owner of the shrine was arrested.
After the discovery and arrest of the owner, police
detectives, led by the Assistant Commissioner of
Police, and joined by Assistant Commissioner in
charge of Ife area Command, Yinka Abdulkadir Jimoh;
Divisional Police Officers, 'A' and 'C' Divisions, Ile-Ife,
police image maker, Folasade Odoro and other
officers visited the shrine some weeks ago.
The Commissioner of Police Dorothy Gimba was also
said to have visited the place to see things herself.
Discovered were six tombs with different names such
as Iya Egungun Agan, Abore Akoko, Apena Oodua,
Awise Ifa, Apena Orisa and Oluwo Agba written on
them. There were also different shrines with names
such as Sango (Yoruba's god of thunder), Yemoja,
Esu Laalu, Allale, Igba Irunmale and Egungun.
Huts containing fearful statues, a structure designed
with a fearful image of a lion, a coffin with a live
python in it and mermaid statue were among other
things found at the shrine. Also recovered from the
shrine were 26 bundles and 12 pieces of fake US 100
dollar notes, a mortar containing black soap, a
beaded crown and a walking stick.
Hundreds of residents of the village and adjoining
ones reportedly stormed the shrine to destroy it,
surprised that such a place had been within their
community undiscovered. It was learnt that the
secret of the existence of the shrine was blown open
when a part of the fence erected round it collapsed,
exposing some of the bizarre statues within the
compound.
When he was arrested, the suspect, who was said to
be married to three wives and recently brought a
fourth lover to a settlement close to the shrine,
denied engaging in rituals but confessed that he had
been obtaining money under false pretence from his
victims.
He also revealed that a palace chief was one of his
group members. He revealed that the mermaid
statue which was sculptured by a deep well had
ground pipes connected to it which supplies water.
One of his syndicate members would blow a hose
passed through it. This would make water to drip
from the hands of the mermaid to further hoodwink
his clients.
In an interview, the suspect spoke on his criminal
exploits in connivance with other members of his
gang. How he started I was in Lagos selling herbs
when a man called SOJ from Ekiti State who noticed
that people used to patronise me told me that I could
make much money from my customers by exploiting
their needs. SOJ took me to other fraudsters in Lagos
State in 2003 and I was introduced to this business.
"I rented a room in Iju-Ishaga area of Lagos State
beside Guru Maharaj Ji's place of worship. However,
others members used to give me little from whatever
was made and I was not happy about it. I left the
group to establish my own shrine in Ife in January
this year when I was outsmarted by my group in
Lagos.
"The experience I gained from them is what I am
using to dupe people. Six of us are into the business
of obtaining money from people under false
pretence. They are 'Iya Gbogbo'; Kabiru who stays in
Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State; Chief Aro, a palace chief who
has my type of shrine; Rasak who stays in Ijebu-Ode,
Ifayemi and Fakeye. They used to bring clients who
are seeking spiritual assistance to me and I would
stay in the lion house pretending to be an elderly
man. Chief Aro and I were on a big job when I was
arrested.
"Though I have been arrested by the police, the chief
and one 'Iya Gbogbo' are still on the job. I don't know
the name of our victim but we call her 'Iya'. She is
from Abuja and is seeking for a posting in a
government office in Abuja. I have collected
N400,000 only from her".
On how he built the shrine I brought Hausa men from
Kaduna to build the huts and the underground. A
man called Nautica who is a film producer did the
sculpture works. He stays in Abeokuta. I paid him
about N800, 000 for the job, including the tombs. I
paid the mallams N300,000. I also hired about 10
men from Sabo for the construction.
I paid N1,500 per day and completed the place in
four months, working non-stop. I came from Lagos
with N4million for the construction and also graded
the road to the place. I am yet to recover my money
fully. On the fake dollars I used to keep them in the
coffin beside the live snake.
An Igbo man brought them from Alaba in Lagos and
sold to me at the rate of N25,000 per pack containing
100 pieces. I don't know his real name but he is
popularly called Dollars. He changes his mobile lines
always. Whenever he brought the fake dollars, he
would call that he was at Lagere.
A few minutes after, he would move from that spot to
another until I would get him. He was always
cautious to prevent being arrested. How he went
undetected I am so skilled that my job was always
perfect without mistake. Victims were usually
brought to me by others in the business. I can even
take the police to other shrines located on Ondo road.
I used to prescribe herbs to those looking for children
before I started the fraud business, and God used to
answer their prayers. Same goes for those looking for
partners. My victims could not have detected that I
was deceiving them because the rooms I use are
always dark so they cannot identify me.
My mode of dressing also makes identification
difficult. I can get up to four or five victims in a week.
I always stay in the lion house. Classes of victims
They are those looking for money, husbands, wives or
children. Others are those who are sick or want to
take the positions of their colleagues. For those
looking for money, I start to extort them little by
little, starting from N100,000.
I would tell them that I used the money for ritual to
the python so that it would bring money. If I see that
the client is able to raise the money in time, I would
trick him into bringing more. After about three times,
I would demand for a million naira for further
sacrifice. If I see that he is unable to raise that in
time, I would call and tell him that my child had died
or was sick; or even tell him that I had been befallen
with a great sickness due to the sacrifice I carried out
and that the python still needs more sacrifice of
blood.
That will scare such client from coming back to ask
for all the money he had initially brought. For others,
when they bring money, I would keep it beside the
snake in the coffin. I would, in exchange, keep some
fake dollars beside the python in the coffin and would
then tell my client that since the snake has brought
some money, he would need to buy between seven
and nine cows for sacrifice.
After he must have brought the cows or pay for them
in cash, I would then say that the snake would
release the money after the sacrifice. I would repeat
the same lies that would scare such a person off used
to share the proceeds with members of the
syndicate.
Reacting to the discovery, the state Police Public
Relations Officer, Folasade Odoro, a Deputy
Superintendent of Police, said that the Commissioner
of Police Dorothy Gimba has tasked the State
Criminal Investigation Department to carry out a
diligent investigation to unravel those behind the
running of the shrine.
The Commissioner of Police warns youths who are
desperate to make money to desist from criminal
acts and engage in lawful means of making such
money or else, they would face the full wrath of the
law, the PPRO said. She added that CP Gimba
cautioned members of the public who are desperate
for money to desist from pursuing destructive
ambitions so as not to continually fall victims of
fraudsters.

Fashola Dares FG Over Link Bridge, Ferry Service

Babatunde
Fashola has said his administration will go
ahead with the construction of the Lekki
link bridge without waiting for Federal
Government approval.
Also, he said he will not seek for any
approval before embarking on the state
ferry service.
Governor Fashola spoke in Lagos,
yesterday, during the 13th National Council
on Transportation, with the theme
'Transformation of Transport Infrastructure
as a Catalyst for Socio economic Growth.'
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos state
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos state
According to Fashola, it was absurd for an
agency like the National Inland Waterways
Authority, NIWA, to require his
administration to apply for a permit to build
the Lekki link bridge over the Lagos lagoon
or to develop municipal water
transportation facilities, which would be
beneficial to Lagosians.
He said: "I believe that each state has the
capacity to operate and manage its
municipal water transport, inside the
territory of the state.
"I find it difficult a situation, where NIWA
asks me to come and take up a permit
before I set up a jetty on my own lagoon
we will not stand for it. I also find it
objectionable, where NIWA suggests to me
that before we can build the Lekki link
bridge, over a lagoon inside Lagos, I should
come and take a permit to build a bridge
for the citizens of Lagos we will not apply
for it.

Boyfriend, Quack Nurse Arrested After 18-year- old Girl Dies Of Abortion

A quack nurse has been arrested by police detectives
in Ondo State over the death of an 18-year-old girl,
Omolayo Afolabi, who she helped to terminate a two-
month-old pregnancy in Iju/Itaogbolu area of the
state.
Also arrested by the police is Joseph Endurance, the
deceased's lover said to have been responsible for
her pregnancy.
The quack nurse, Favour Adebiyi, was reportedly
approached by the deceased to help her abort the
pregnancy.
The deceased, who was introduced to the quack
nurse by one of her friends, informed her to help
them terminate the pregnancy since her boyfriend
was too young to father a child, sources told
Vanguard.
The nurse was said to have given her some drugs to
use which, according to information, led to her
untimely death, following complications.
She died 24 hours later after refusing to seek medical
help.
The news of her death later got to her family
members following which one of them reported the

Catholic Priest Charged With Money Laundering

A senior Italian cleric has been charged with
laundering millions through the Vatican bank, police
say.
Monsignor Nunzio Scarano is already on trial and
under house arrest on separate charges of plotting to
smuggle 20m euros ($26m; £17m) into Italy.
The former Vatican accountant and two other people
were served with arrest warrants on Tuesday, police
said. Police seized some 6.5m euros in bank accounts
and real estate, including Monsignor Scarano's luxury
apartment in the southern city of Salerno.
Authorities said the latest charges against the cleric
related to "false donations", which he allegedly
recycled from offshore accounts through the Vatican
bank.
Prosecutors allege that Monsignor Scarano got
dozens of people to make contributions to a home for
the terminally ill in Salerno, and used the money to
pay off a mortgage on one of his properties.
Monsignor Scarano worked for two decades as a
senior accountant in a Vatican department known as
Apsa (the Administration of the Patrimony of the
Apostolic See). The division manages the Vatican's
real estate holdings and stock portfolios.
The cleric was suspended from his position last year,
after he was accused of conspiring to smuggle
millions from Switzerland into Italy with the help of a
secret service agent and a financial broker.
The trio's high-profile trial began in early December
in Rome.
Officially known as the Institute for the Works of
Religion (IOR), the Vatican bank is one of the world's
most secretive. It has 114 employees and 5.4bn
euros of assets.

N1.5m Bride Price Drove Me Into Armed Robbery – Suspect

A robbery suspect, Mr Godwin Olukporibe, has
confessed that he was forced to form a robbery gang
when his father-in-law asked him to pay N1.5 million
bride price before he could marry his pregnant
girlfriend.
The suspect was arrested by the Special Anti-
Robbery Squad, SARS, of the Lagos State Police
Command, following a tip-off that he was in a hotel
with his girlfriend in Ibadan, Oyo State, western
Nigeria.
Olukporibe allegedly claimed his father-in-law
initially refused to give his daughter's hand in
marriage despite the fact that he had impregnated
her and wanted to marry her.
The suspect said that it was after a lot of persuasion
that he allow them marry but with the condition that
he must give him N1.5 million as bride price.
The suspect said he could not afford the money but
because he loved his wife and she was expecting his
baby, he was forced to form an armed robbery gang
to raise the money.
Olukporibe said he initially went into robbery just to
raise the money, but he was encouraged to continue
when he made N3 million in his first attempt.
He said he quickly paid the bride price and married
his wife without his father- in-law knowing his source
of money.
Olukporibe said because of the success of the first
robbery operation, he decided to go into full time
robbery and later graduated into kidnapping.
The suspect, who hails from Etsako Local
Government in Edo State, said he was not really
doing any work before he formed the gang and
became their leader.
He said the gang used his father's car to rob people
on the highway before they bought the cars they
used for their other operations.
Oluporibe confessed that he was involved in several
robbery operations on Benin-Lagos, Ibadan-Lagos
expressways and Kwara State among others.
On how they operate, Olukporibe said some of the
members of the gang usually board buses as
passengers and would be communicating with others
through phone calls to keep them informed about
their progress on the journey.
He said when the targeted bus approaches the
destination they have planned to operate, they will
block the road and force the driver of the bus to stop.
"If the driver tries to resist, those inside the bus will
force him to comply. We will rob the passengers of
the bus and carry their belongings to our waiting cars
and drive off," he said.
Olukporibe said he had been a political thug for so
many years and went into armed robbery and
kidnapping five years ago before he was arrested by
the police.
He confessed that he was a political thug for
prominent politicians who armed him with weapons
such as AK47 rifles to attack their opponents.
He said most times before the operation, the
politicians will give him some money and promise to
buy good things for him but after the operation, they
will distance themselves from him.
Oluporibe said he did not return most of the
weapons, which the gang later used for their robbery
and kidnapping operations.
He said he regretted to be an armed robber and if
given a chance, he would turn a new leaf. He is still in
the custody of SARS where he is undergoing
interrogation.
Olukporibe has been detained by SARS and would be
charged to court soon.

12 health benefits of eating watermelon

1. Fight Cancer:
The lypocene in watermelon has been found to be
effective in preventing cancers, particularly breast
cancer, colon cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer,
and endometrial cancer. A study conducted by
Harvard University found that men who ate
lycopene-rich diet had a lower risk of developing
certain cancers, especially prostate cancer than
those who did not.
2. Relieve Kidney Disorders:
Watermelon is a good source of potassium, which
is very helpful in cleaning off the toxic depositions
in the kidneys. Moreover, it is helpful in reducing
concentration of uric acid in the blood, thereby
reducing the chances of kidney damages.
3. Reduce High Blood Pressure:
As watermelons are rich in potassium and
magnesium, they help in controlling blood
pressure and maintaining the body's proper
electrolyte and acid-base balance.
4. Improves Eye Health:
Watermelons are an excellent source of vitamin A
and beta carotene, which help improve overall eye
health. Eating watermelon can also prevent age
related macular degeneration (AMD), the major
cause of vision loss in older people.
5. Reduce Heart Disease Risk:
Apart from protective cancers, lycopene in
watermelon also provide cardiovascular benefits.
Researchers found that women who consumed
7-10 servings of lycopene-rich diets every week
had 29% lower risk of heart disease when
compared with women who ate less than 1.5
servings of lycopene-rich diets each week.
Watermelon also contains the amino acids
citrulline and arginine, which can help promote
arteries, blood flow, and overall heart health.
6. Boosts the Immune System:
Vitamin C in watermelon can help boost the
immune system, which in turn help protect your
body from various illness and infections.
7. Treats Erectile Dysfunction (Impotence):
Arginine present in water melon is beneficial in
treating erectile dysfunction. Arginine boosts nitric
oxide, which relaxes blood vessels, the same basic
effect that Viagra has. While watermelon may not
be as organ-specific as Viagra, it is a best way to
relax blood vessels without the side effects of
prescription drugs. A study of 50 men with
impotence reported significant improved sexual
function after they were given arginine
supplementation.
8. Aid in Energy Production:
Watermelon is an excellent source of vitamin B6
and vitamin B1, which are necessary for energy
production.
9. Promote Weight Loss:
Watermelon is low in calories and high in water
content, hence it is a perfect snack for people
looking to lose weight.
10. Prevent Osteoporosis:
Watermelon is rich in magnesium, a nutrient
known to help strengthen the bone, thereby
beneficial in preventing osteoporosis.
11. Reduce Blood Sugar:
Minerals such as potassium and magnesium help
in proper functioning of insulin in the body, thus
reducing the blood sugar level. Arginine, another
component found in water melons also has been
shown to improve insulin sensitivity in patients
with type 2 diabetes.
12. Keep Body Hydrated:
Since watermelon contains high water content – 92
percent water, it can help to replenish body fluids.
Also, watermelons help in providing a cooling
effect in your body. So it's the best refreshing
snack option during the hot summer season. By
having watermelons, you can keep your body
hydrated and healthy.
When choosing a watermelon, look at the red
watermelon because lycopene is found only in this
varieties. The redder the watermelon, the more
lycopene it contains.

The Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA)

The bill is for a law to provide for the

in Lagos State and for connected purposes.
Some of the designated public places by

restaurants.

of fine not less than N15,000.
It also stipulates that any person involved
with the management of public place
should put a 'No-Smoking' sign in
conspicuous areas.

Obama on Marijuana: ‘I Don’t Think It Is More Dangerous Than Alcohol’

President
Barack Obama says he views marijuana as a "bad
habit" and "a vice," but no more dangerous than
alcohol.
"As has been well documented, I smoked pot as a
kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very
different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a
young person up through a big chunk of my adult
life," Obama told The New Yorker's David Remnick.
"I don't think it is more dangerous than alcohol."
The president acknowledged marijuana is less
dangerous than alcohol "in terms of its impact on
the individual consumer."
"It's not something I encourage," Obama
continued, "and I've told my daughters I think it's a
bad idea, a waste of time, not very healthy."
Still, he said, "we should not be locking up kids or
individual users for long stretches of jail time when
some of the folks who are writing those laws have
probably done the same thing."
On the legalization of recreational marijuana in
Colorado and Washington, Obama said, "it's
important for it to go forward because it's
important for society not to have a situation in
which a large portion of people have at one time or
another broken the law and only a select few get
punished."
Obama's support of legalization was welcomed by
pot advocates.
"The first step to improving our nation's marijuana
policy is admitting that marijuana is less harmful
than alcohol," Mason Tvert, director of the
Marijuana Policy Project, said in a statement. "Now
that he has recognized that laws jailing adults for
using marijuana are inappropriate, it is time to
amend for those errors and adopt a more fact-
based marijuana policy.
But the president also said legalization is a slippery
slope:
"When it comes to harder drugs, the harm
done to the user is profound and the social
costs are profound. And you do start getting
into some difficult line-drawing issues. If
marijuana is fully legalized and at some
point folks say, Well, we can come up with a
negotiated dose of cocaine that we can show
is not any more harmful than vodka, are we
open to that? If somebody says, We've got a
finely calibrated dose of meth, it isn't going
to kill you or rot your teeth, are we O.K. with
that?"
His comments were part of a lengthy, wide-ranging
profile published online Sunday. Some other
notable quotes from the piece:
· Obama doesn't have a son. But if he did, he
"would not let my son play pro football." He then
compared concussion-prone football players to
boxers and smokers: They all know the dangers.
"At this point, there's a little bit of caveat emptor,"
Obama said. "These guys, they know what they're
doing. They know what they're buying into. It is no
longer a secret. It's sort of the feeling I have about
smokers."
· Obama on losing some older white voters in the
2012 election: "There's no doubt that there's some
folks who just really dislike me because they don't
like the idea of a black president. Now, the flip side
of it is there are some black folks and maybe some
white folks who really like me and give me the
benefit of the doubt precisely because I'm a black
president."
· His 2004 speech at the Democratic National
Convention in Boston put him on the map,
politically, but critics say its theme — about
Washington rising above partisan politics — was a
fantasy. "My speech in Boston was an aspirational
speech," Obama countered. "It was not a
description of our politics. It was a description of
what I saw in the American people."
· The president says he doesn't watch "Meet The
Press," "Reliable Sources" or any of the Sunday
political talk shows, for that matter. "I don't watch
Sunday-morning shows," Obama said. "That's been
a well-established rule." He usually spends them
with his family or plays basketball.
· Obama on the expectations of the office during a
second term: "The conventional wisdom is that a
President's second term is a matter of minimizing
the damage and playing defense rather than
playing offense. But, as I've reminded my team,
the day after I was inaugurated for a second term,
we're in charge of the largest organization on
earth, and our capacity to do some good, both
domestically and around the world, is unsurpassed,
even if nobody is paying attention."

An open Letter to all Nigerian. "It doesn't belong to us" By Jimoh Adekunle .A

Since its a season of Open letters. I decided to speak my mind on what has been bothering my mind all this while.
There are lots of things affecting our African Nations especially our Dear Nation Nigeria. It all started when our colonial masters came to colonise us. They imposed their culture on us.
According to our Fathers, it was the Europeans who thought our community leaders how to indulge in bribery and corruption. Before the advent of colonialism, everybody is equal to the law there's no bias judgement because nobody is above the law. You can display your commodities and go home without any fear of loosing your goods.
The Europeans can to our land to impose their culture and brought along many things also. (Cancer,HIV,STD's, e.t.c). Their foods are poisonous, because it has been preserved with chemicals which are dangerous to our health. No wonder they die young.
All this things doesn't belong to us because our elders leave long before the colonial masters came to our Land. They gave us their poisonous food and drinks. Now our children no longer care for our delicious native dish all they crave for is western dishes. Now Africans die of cancer and other infections which doesn't belong to us.
The european asked us to wear suit under hot sun, we did,
They ordered us to speak their language, we obediently dump ours! Because I remember when I was in primary school my teacher usually flog me for speaking YORUBA language which is my mother Language. Now I can hardly write yoruba language with punctuation marks. Its not my fault. I wasn't taught.
They asked us to tie a rope round our necks like goats, we obeyed!
They said our ladies should wear dead people's hair instead of the natural ones God gave to them, they obeyed.
They said we should marry just one woman in the midst of plenty damsels, we reluctantly obeyed!
They said our decent gals should wear catapults instead of the conventional pants, they obeyed!
Before the advent of GSM our fathers have ways of communication to anybody in the word. Now we waste money to buy card. Our fathers knew how to surf the web and find any information they want without google or any internet subscription. Now we pay heavily to subscribe and browse the internet monthly. All this things doesn't belong to us.
Our Fathers have their own means of transportation which is save an faster. Within the tinkle of an eye, they disappear only to re-appear in any place of choice. The western brought cars, planes, ships and other machines for transportation which has brought deaths to many Africans.
Finally they brought 2 prominent religion to our Land." Islam and christianity" I have nothing against these religion but it doesn't belong to us. Our nation Nigeria suppose to be the best crime free nation in the world due to the way which the christians pray and attend Night vigil. In my street alone, their are more than 10 churches they polute the air with their noise. The muslims pray 5 times daily and still no changes in the country. Nigeria is one of the most corrupt nation in the world and home to internet fraudsters, kidnappers , armed rubbers, militants, suicide bombers. Our fathers didn't experience all these things because the gods they serve delivers judgement with immediate alacrity.

The List is endless. I remain My humble self.

Nigerians in Saudi change names to avoid deportation

Nigerian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
(KSA), Alhaji Abubakar Bunu, has said that many
Nigerian emigrants in that country are changing their
names to outsmart authorities and avoid deportation.
Amb. Bunu, who disclosed this to journalists in
Gusau on Saturday, said many of the emigrants had
gone into hiding thereby making it difficult for the
law enforcement agents to trace them.
He explained that in spite od joint efforts by the
Saudi authorities and officials of the Nigerian
Embassy there to locate them, only about 500
persons had been repatriated in the last six months.
He said the embassy had discovered that some of the
emigrants, who had lived there for upwards of 25
years, had crossed through different routes including
Sudan and Yemen or as pilgrims on lesser hajj and
refused to return.
Bunu stated that although the figure of Nigerians
staying illegally in the kingdom was not known, the
Saudi authorities said it was over one million.
He therefore advised Nigerians who want to stay in
the Arabian country to regularise their documents
with the authorities to avoid unwarranted
embarrassment.
Some deportees, who were brought back to Gusau
recently and spoke to NAN on condition of
anonymity, however claimed hat "only when one was
hit with hard luck that the person gets arrested and
deported."
They maintained that many Nigerians still lived
normal lives in Mecca and Madinah by going to the
markets and praying at the Holy Mosques without
being harassed.
They said, "we will still go back whenever we get the
chance," pointing out that, "we still have our family
members and personal belongings there."
NAN reports that the ambassador was in the state to
attend the state's PDP elders and stakeholders
meeting organised by the party's caretaker
leadership in Gusau.

Pastor Kills Another Pastor For ‘Stealing His Glory’

According to the Tribune, a pastor of The Apostolic
Church, Oke Afata, Gbongan in Osun State on
Wednesday, hacked another pastor, one Julius
Olusoji Oguntoye, to death after accusing him of
stealing his glory.
It was gathered that the murder took place at
about 8.00 p.m. in front of the mission house of
The Apostolic Church, Okeola, Gbongan, which was
the deceased's official residence.
Immediately the Divisional Police Officer of
Gbongan Division received the information, he
reportedly led other detectives to the scene where
they recovered the cutlass used by Adepoju to
inflict fatal injuries on his fellow pastor, and he
confessed to the crime.
Trouble started at about 6.40p.m. when Pastor
Adepoju reportedly left his residence with a cutlass
and went to Oguntoye's official residence, and
accused him of casting a spell on him, thereby
'stealing his glory' and those of his children.
He was also said to have alleged that the deceased
rained curses on him, warning him to stop all those
things.
We further gathered that the murder suspect
thereafter engaged the late pastor in a fight during
which he used a sharp cutlass to inflict a deep cut
on the chest and stomach of the deceased,
resulting in multiple injuries and instant death.
Confirming the incident, the police spokesperson in
Osun state Police Command, Folasade Odoro, a
Deputy Superintendent of Police said that the
suspect had been arrested and transferred to the
State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID),
Osogbo, while the remains of the deceased had
been deposited at the General Hospital Mortuary for Autopsy

Gay Pastor Olajide Macaulay Flees To The UK, Writes To Nigerians

Gay Reverend Jide Macaulay, Founder and Project
Director of House Of Rainbow Fellowship wrote to
Saturday Vanguard. Reverend Jide who has fled to
the Uk described the new anti-gay law as one of the
harshest laws in the world, adding that the LGBT-
community now lives in fear of arrest and violence.
Read the letter below:
On January 7th, President Goodluck Ebele
Jonathan signed the Same Sex Marriage
Prohibition Bill 2013 into law. The law bans same
sex marriage, and through its wording, also seeks
to criminalise people, organisations and agencies
who support homosexuality and those who do not
immediately report any known homosexuals, or
homosexual activities.
Since January12th, when the announcement was
made, the LGBT-community has been thrown into
panic. There is chaos throughout Nigeria as we are
grappling with keeping up with mass arbitrary
arrest, humiliation, blackmail, extortion and police
corruption in several 'charge and bail' cases.
The hostility in Nigeria against gay people has
reached epic proportions. In the East of Nigeria,
many are fleeing their homes. One gay man,
labelled "a leader of the homosexual" is on the
run. His parents and brother were threatened with
arrest if they don't provide information about his
whereabouts.
In the same region, more than six people were
arrested. In the West of the country, we can
confirm that nearly ten people have been arrested
and bailed. The police have extorted funds from
each victim at an average of between $120 to $
300. Most of the people arrested were tortured
and asked to provide additional details of other
gays or lesbians. In the North of Nigeria, in Bauchi
and Kano, there are two separate cases of arrests
and harassment of gay people. Both areas are
firmly under sharia law, which carries the death
penalty.
In the wake of the passing of the anti gay laws,
there is no doubt of the many calls, emails and
online messages we have received, expressing
fear, anger, anxiety and suicide attempts. This is a
critical time for all LGBTI-people; a time when our
ideals are being stretched and tested.
The Nigerian President and legislators have
ignored the critical aspect of the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights, and passed into law
a legislation that is unjust.
In a BBC Radio program yesterday, I spoke out to
condemn this law. However, a few of the speakers
claimed that a research showed that 98% of
Nigerians are happy and jubilant about this law,
and based on their religious beliefs that
homosexuality is "unafrican", against religion and
unnatural.
Nigeria like many African nations, has many
issues and the oppression of LGBT-citizens is
largely unwelcomed by an already marginalised
group. We are now looking into our first priority
intervention to help those displaced and or
attacked.
In view of the present situation in Nigeria, we are
helping with emergency evacuation to safe homes
around the country. The Initiative for Equal Rights
(TIERs), a Human Rights Organisation in Nigeria,
has now opened a 24hr support line for LGBT-
people in Nigeria.
We also continue to advise all LGBT-people to stay
away from trouble, not pick unknown phone
numbers and sign off gay dating websites.

Director of House Of Rainbow Fellowship.

Ugandan President Refuses to Sign Anti Gay Bill

President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda has refused to
sign into law an anti-gay bill passed by the country's
parliament, which is aimed at imprisoning not just
homosexuals, but people who talk about it without
condemning the lifestyle. The President in a letter to
the Country's parliament speaker said homosexuals
are 'abnormal' but could be 'rescued'.
"Even with legislation, they will simply go
underground and continue practicing
homosexuality or lesbianism for mercenary
reasons". President Museveni said
In December 2013, the Ugandan parliament passed
its anti-gay bill going against the President's advice
and now seeks his assent. The President had initially
advised that the homosexuality situation in the
country be studied deeply and carefully before any
laws against the practice be enacted.
The Ugandan anti-gay bill seeks to make all form of
homosexual activities a criminal offense to be
punishable under law. Homosexuals can get as much
as a life term imprisonment punishment. Also
anyone who knows a homosexual and doesn't report
such to police authorities would also face some
sanctions if found wanting.

Lagos Based Pastor Impregnates His Wife’s Friend

A Lagos-based businesswoman, Iyabo Olusoji has
appealed to a court to end her marriage as she
described her husband, a pastor, as a chronic
womanizer. She told a Customary Court sitting in the
Igando area of the state that her husband, Pastor
Taiwo, is an habitual adulterer, adding that he had
impregnated her friend.
She accused Pastor Taiwo of using charm to marry
her, saying she initially went to his church for prayers
when she was having marital problem with her ex-
husband and that Pastor Taiwo gave her soap to
bath.
In her words: "I went to Taiwo to seek help
concerning my marriage that was collapsing. He gave
me soap to bath with that my former husband will
come back. After using the soap, instead of my
husband and I to settle our differences, it became
worse and I don't know how I became one of Taiwo's
wives."
According to her, her husband always beat her
anytime she goes to his church to ask for money and
he will not leave her until he sees blood on her. "My
husband runs after anything in skirt. He flirts around
with some of his female members, he also slept with
my friend and got her pregnant."
Iyabo, mother of one, consented to dissolution of the
union, saying that she was no longer in love and that
Pastor Taiwo is only keeping her as a sex tool.
On his part, Pastor Taiwo, 53, begged the court to
dissolve the 7-year-old marriage, citing Iyabo's
constant embarrassment and defamation. He said
she always came to his church to embarrass, defame
his character in the presence of his members. "She
will come to my church, lock me up in the presence
of my members, calling me all sorts of names like
thief, woman wrapper, cultist and other names. There
was one day she came and naked herself in the
presence of my congregation claiming that I
abandoned her for two years."
He pleaded with the court to dissolve the union,
saying that that he is tired of his wife's bad
character. The Presiding Officer, R.I. Adeyeri,
adjourned the case to February 3 for judgement.

Man receives 20 lashes for being gay inBauchi - BBC report

According to a report by the BBC, a 20 year old
man in Bauchi received 20 lashes seven years after
he stopped being gay. For real? My head hurts
from reading all these. Find the report below...
A Nigerian man has received 20 lashes after an
Islamic court in the northern city of Bauchi
convicted him of homosexual offences.
Under Islamic law, courts can punish homosexual
acts by stoning to death.
But the judge said he took into account that the
Muslim man, Mubarak Ibrahim, 20, carried out the
acts seven years ago, and had stopped the practice.
In Nigeria, homosexual acts are illegal under both
Islamic and secular law and restrictions have been
tightened.
Earlier this month, President Goodluck Jonathan
signed into law a bill which bans same-sex
marriages, gay groups and shows of same-sex
public affection.
The new legislation applies throughout Nigeria.
Most states in the predominantly Muslim north of
Nigeria have adopted Islamic law, known as
Sharia, since the end of military rule in 1999.
Along with Mr Ibrahim, 11 other Muslims and a
Christian man were arrested last month accused by
the authorities of being homosexuals.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of about $30
(£18).
Mr Ibrahim told the BBC he was relieved that
Judge Nuhu Muhammad had been lenient on him
and had not sentenced him to death.
The BBC's Ishaq Khalid was in court when Mr
Ibrahim was lashed with a whip, made of animal
skin smeared with oil.
Mr Ibrahim, who had pleaded guilty to the charge,
was ordered to lie on a bench, and an official
whipped his back in front of a packed courtroom,
our correspondent says.
Mr Ibrahim screamed in pain while being lashed,
but was able to walk afterwards, he adds.
The trial of two other men was adjourned to 23
January.
The fate of the nine other men arrested on the
same charge is unclear but on Wednesday the
Sharia Commission in Bauchi said the Christian
would be tried by a "conventional court", not an
Islamic court.

Affairs, Mr Kingsley Kuku, said the scholarships were
for under graduate and post graduate programmes in
universities in the United Kingdom.
Kuku said this at the Offshore Orientation and
Departure Programme organised for the
beneficiaries.
Kuku, who was represented by the Head of
Reintegration Department in the office, Mr Larry
Pepple, said the purpose was to develop the capacity
of youths in the area.
He said 31 Itsekiri and four Ijaw youths were the
latest group of beneficiaries in the scheme offered by
his office.
The presidential aide urged the beneficiaries to
behave well while pursuing their studies.
He said the beneficiaries got the scholarship because
their communities were affected by militancy and oil
exploration.
Mr Eugene Abels, Head, Education Unit in the office,
urged the beneficiaries to always save some money
to avoid hardship in the event of delay in the
payment of their stipends.
Abels, who said the office was responsible for their
tuition fees and stipends, urged them to adhere
strictly to the laws of their host country. (NAN)

Pastor Arrested For Giving A Woman Fake Prophesy In Lagos

The founder and General Overseer of Faith Alive
Christian Centre located at 43, Dada Olowu
Street, Abule Taylor, in Abule Egba, Lagos State,
southwest Nigeria, has been sent to prison for
allegedly giving false prophecy to a member of
his church.
P.M.NEWS learnt that Pastor Obi Ofoedu, who
hails from Abatete in Idemili Local Government in
Anambra State, was a clearing agent before he
claimed that he had a call from God three years
ago to establish the church.
The pastor landed in trouble during the church
service after he claimed that he received a divine
vision that his church member, Mrs Favour
Okafor, would face calamity in her place of work
and she can only avert the impending doom if
she comes to the church for special prayers.
Mrs. Okafor said she disregarded the prophecy
and challenged the pastor for giving her a false
prophecy.
She told the pastor that he did not receive the
vision from God and nothing bad would happen
to her.
This infuriated the pastor who allegedly said that
she would be inflicted with stroke and illnesses
for doubting his prophecy.
Mrs. Okafor narrated that she left the church in
anger and went to report to the police at Idimu
Area 'M' Command that Pastor Ofoedu was
threatening her life.
When Pastor Ofoedu was arrested, he denied the
allegation.
He told the police that he only gave Mrs. Okafor
the message he received from God but she was
not comfortable with it.
He added that he cannot retract the message
because he was only a messenger of God, saying
that the complainant should not attend his
church if she does not like the vision.
The pastor was subsequently charged to court for
conduct likely to cause breach of peace by
threatening Mrs.Okafor with illness.
Pastor Ofoedu pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The presiding magistrate, Mr P.E. Nwaka, granted
him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties
in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending
when he will perfect his bail conditions.

US Declares 16 States Unsafe In Nigeria.

The United States has revised its travel alert on
Nigeria, warning its citizens against travelling to 16
states in the country.
The latest alert, includes the three north eastern
states that have been under emergency rule after a
presidential declaration on May 14, 2013.
Released on January 8 by the State Department, the
US appealed to its citizens to avoid all, but essential
travels to Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Borno, Delta,
Gombe and Jigawa states.
The other states on the list, which the alert said are
prone to kidnappings, robberies and other armed
attacks are Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Niger,
Plateau, Sokoto, Yobe, and Zamfara.
Abia, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Imo and Rivers states, which
were in an earlier list issued in June, 2013 are not on
the latest travel list.
The world power described the security situation in
Nigeria as "fluid and unpredictable,'' and also warned
against travel to the Gulf of Guinea because of the
threat of piracy.
The country urged its citizens to be particularly
vigilant around "government security facilities,
places of worship and locations where large crowds
may gather''.
"Security measures in Nigeria remain heightened
due to threats posed by extremist groups.
"Boko Haram, an extremist group based in northeast
Nigeria designated as a Foreign Terrorist
organisation by the Department of State, has claimed
responsibility for many attacks, mainly in northern
Nigeria,'' the statement read.
According to the State Department, the Ansaru
group, an offshoot of Boko Haram, has carried out
several kidnappings, targeting foreigners in Nigeria.
It noted that the group also claimed responsibility of
other violent acts in the past years.

Woman Goes Blind After Surgery To Change Her Eye Color

"The length people go to alter the way they were
created is frightening. I can't seem to understand.
Shenise Farrell is a student who was left temporarily
blind after surgery to change the colour of her eyes.
She travelled all the way to Panama, in Central
America, for the procedure. Her goal was to change
her eye colour from dark brown to light brown, an
operation that cost her £8,000.
On arrival at the clinic, plans changed and she got
blue implants instead, because the light brown
implants were not available. During the procedure
she screamed but the surgeon told her not to scream
as it 'could cause things to go wrong'.
But at the end of the 20 minute procedure, she
realised she couldn't see properly. It was as though
she was looking underwater, but the surgeon told her
not to worry insisting that for some patients it took
up to 2 weeks for vision to return to normal. But by
the time she returned to London her sight had
deteriorated badly"

6 Ways to Naturally Whiten Your Teeth by Dr. Josh Axe

Almost 18% 'usually conceal their teeth in
photos'. Having great teeth is very important in our
culture today. Do you have yellow or discolored
teeth? The sad truth is some people no matter how
many times they brush their teeth have stained
teeth from drinking coffee, tea, and or smoking. First
impressions matter in this world and having teeth
that look like you don't brush can and will send a
signal that you don't really care about yourself. Who
doesn't want to have a beautiful smile with white
sparkling teeth?
1. Brush After Drinking or Eating
The best way, but not always the easiest is to simply
brush your teeth after eating or drinking something.
This takes a lot of persistence and can even be kind
of difficult depending on where you are at the time.
Most food does not stain teeth, but if you are a coffee
drinker or if you smoke, you can pretty much count
on having discolored teeth from staining. If this is the
case then having your teeth cleaned every three
months may be in order, besides trying some of the
natural remedies listed here.
2. Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda
This works great as a natural teeth whitener. Many
people confirm to the fact that it does make their
teeth look whiter. Mix a small amount of hydrogen
peroxide with a small amount of baking soda to make
a paste. Brush your teeth as usual, making sure you
brush those back teeth too. Hydrogen peroxide is an
anti-bacterial agent and works great as a total mouth
and gum cleaner and keeps the mouth free of germs.
Baking soda is a gritty substance like sandpaper so
be careful that you have enough hydrogen peroxide
mixed in with the soda because if you don't it can
very well scrub the enamel right off your teeth and
enamel does not grow back. The paste should not be
gritty at all, and in fact it should be a runnier paste
than a stiff paste.
3. Olive Oil
Can it be true? Olive oil to clean your teeth? Just
when you thought you heard it all, along comes olive
oil to the rescue as a teeth whitener. Some people
are attesting to their teeth becoming whiter by
applying olive oil to their teeth after they brush.
There are two ways you can apply it. Add a few drops
to your tooth brush and simple brush it on, or add
the olive oil to a corner of a clean wash cloth and rub
it on. It can't hurt to try this natural whitening tip.
Olive oil is good for you!
4. Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)
It makes sense that apple cider vinegar would
eventually remove stubborn stains on the teeth,
especially from coffee and nicotine. It has been
proven that it does work but you have to be
consistent and it takes a least a month of continuous
usage to see results. Some say that using ACV looks
like you just got your teeth professionally cleansed.
Be careful, as with all acids, it can remove the
enamel on your teeth as well. After brushing with
ACV, you will need to brush again with regular
toothpaste, preferably a non fluoride paste, or rinse
your mouth out really well.
5. Lemon or Orange Peels
There have been reports that lemon and or orange
peels will also do the trick of whitening your teeth.
Guess you don't know until you try. Here again, these
food products are very healthy and good for your
stomach but the acid content might eventually wear
away the enamel on the teeth. So if you use lemon or
orange peel always rinse afterwards to be on the safe
side. A good oral mouth rinse is hydrogen peroxide
because it keeps breath fresh by eliminating bad
breath and also is a very good bacterial agent. Use
half water and half hydrogen peroxide, swish around
in your mouth and leave in for at least a full minute.
6. Strawberries
It has been said that Catherine Zeta Jones whitens
her teeth with strawberries. Who would have
thought? Tyra Banks tried this teeth whitening trick
on her show. She simply mashed up about four or
five strawberries and rubbed this yummy mixture all
over her teeth. Tyra Banks teeth are already really
white from having them bleached so you couldn't
really tell any difference. Some people say this really
does work, and if Catherine Zeta Jones rubs her teeth
with strawberries, it must be worth giving it a try.
Some people say this works right away. Rinse well
afterwards.
Some Natural Whiteners Can Eradicate Enamel
Some teeth whiteners are just not a good idea to use,
especially lemon juice. The acid in the lemon juice
does great for bleaching clothes, hair, and getting
stains out of furniture, but you wouldn't want to put
lemon juice on your teeth every single day.
Eventually the acid creates tiny holes in your teeth
and then every kind of staining type food will seep
into these tiny holes and remain there. The acid from
the lemons is so strong it just eventually wears away
the teeth causing cavities.
Can Teeth Whitening Harm Teeth?
Apparently many people are going for the gusto to
have whiter teeth and are turning it into an
addiction. Here's what one dentist had to say about
teeth whitening strips. "There are people who can
never get enough," says New York City dentist Dr.
Irwin Smigel, president of the American Society for
Dental Aesthetics. "I've had situations where people
have needed root canals because they've
overbleached, where tissues were damaged. You can
wear away some of the enamel and your teeth will
become translucent and unnatural. They'll become
blue or blue gray."
Research has shown that teeth whitening products
can damage the teeth by removing the enamel.
Constant application of whitening strips have been
shown to cause erosion of enamel over time and
results in tooth sensitivity, especially with eating hot
and cold liquids and foods.
Bottom line is whitening strips should be used in
moderation. Teeth bleaching products should only be
used under the guidance of your dentist. The best
way to whiten teeth is by feeding your body lots of
healthy foods for strong bones, teeth and gums and
omitting coffee, tea and sugary foods in your diet. If
you smoke, stop smoking. And brush and floss your
teeth every day!
