House Wife Dumps Her Day Old Baby in the Toilet

Residents in Okpoko of Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State were, on Thursday, shocked when the news broke that a housewife in the community, names withheld, had dumped her newborn baby into the toilet.

She was said to have a protruded stomach, a peculiar nature that made many people in the area, not to be aware that she was pregnant.
She decided to dump the newborn baby into the toilet, to save her the agony of nursing a baby, which, she said, could disturb her business.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that when a member of the family, her brother-in-law, wanted to use the toilet, he discovered that water could not flush the waste, as his faeces remained floating.
Her brother-in-law, a soource revealed, therefore, decided to deep his hand into the toilet, and discovered, to his surprise, that a placenta had been dumped into the toilet, a situation which made him to scream, attracting other residents to the scene, who in utter disbelief, removed the lifeless baby from the toilet.
When the whole family met shortly after the incident and summoned other family members, some of them saw traces of blood stain on the woman's clothes, the wife of their elder brother, but she refused to give details of the bizarre act, and even denied knowledge of what happened.
She was thereafter taken to a maternity home where it was confirmed that she had given birth to a baby, but when the husband was contacted, he said his wife was in police custody and declined further comments.
When contacted, the Anambra command Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Uche Eze, said they had not heard about the matter, but said if it was true, they would receive full details of the report from the DPO of Okpoko Police Station.

over 120 persons died in yesterday's mosque bomb explosions in Kano Central Mosque

No fewer than 120 died and 270 were injured on Friday as the violent Boko Haram sect bombed the 10,000 capacity Kano Central Mosque where the Emir, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, usually leads prayers.
About 10 gunmen went on a shooting spree after the blast at the mosque, which is close to the Emir of Kano's palace.
A rescue official, who spoke with Agence France-Presse, put casualty figures at almost 400, adding that 120 were killed and 270 hurt in the three explosions that rocked the mosque.
The emir was said to have travelled to Saudi Arabia late on Thursday night from Paris.
Witnesses said the incident happened just as residents were getting set for Friday prayers.
"The attackers have bombed the mosque. I saw people screaming," a local reporter who resides in Kano, Chijjani Usman, told Reuters.
Another eyewitness told the British Broadcasting Corporation that he had counted over 50 bodies immediately after the blasts.
Also, the Editor, BBC Hausa Service, Mansur Liman, was quoted as saying that people had witnessed "horrible" scenes in a nearby hospital.
One eyewitness, who spoke with the BBC's Focus on Africa, said, "The imam was about to start prayer when he saw somebody in a car trying to force himself into the mosque. But when people stopped him, he detonated the explosions. People started running helter-skelter."
Another worshipper, Aminu Abdullahi, who also spoke to AFP, said, "Two bombs exploded, one after the other, in the premises of the Grand Mosque seconds after the prayers had started."
"A third one went off in a nearby road close to the Qadiriyya Sufi order. The blasts were followed by gunshots by the police to scare off potential attacks."
His account was backed up by another witness, Hajara Tukur, who said she lives nearby.
A senior rescue official confirmed that several bodies had been brought to just one Kano area hospital, while over 126 people had been admitted with injuries at three facilities.
"Those figures are going to climb," he told AFP on condition of anonymity, as he was not authorised to speak to the media.
A military official, Capt. Ikechukwu Eze, also said scores of people were feared killed and many others injured in the attack.
A check by one of our correspondents at the mortuaries of both the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital and the Nasarawa Hospital in the heart of the city showed they were filled with bodies of victims of the blasts while some of them littered the ground.
Meanwhile, two suspected bomber were said to have been arrested at the scene of the incident, just as youths took to the street to protest what they called negligence by the police for not doing enough to protect the lives and property of the people.
The Kano State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, Mustapha Abubakar, confirmed the incident but declined to give the casualty.
The emir had recently called for people to arm themselves against Islamist militant group Boko Haram.
Earlier this month, the emir told a prayer meeting that people should "acquire what they need" to protect themselves.
The Boko Haram terrorist group has killed more than 2,000 people this year, according to rights groups' reports.
The Kano blasts came after a bomb attack was also foiled at a mosque in Maiduguri on Friday morning; five days after two female suicide bombers killed over 45 people in the city.
The Emir of Kano last week doubted the Nigerian troops' ability to protect civilians and end the insurgency.
This had prompted his advice to Kano residents to arm themselves against Boko Haram attacks.
The Emir of Kano is an influential figure in Nigeria, which is home to more than 80 million Muslims, most of who live in the North.
Boko Haram has repeatedly attacked Kano before. On November 14, a suicide bomb attack at a filling station killed six people, including three policemen.
In Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, civilian vigilantes said they had discovered a suspected remote-controlled device planted in the Gamboru Market area of the city.
It was successfully defused by the police bomb squad but as the bomb was being made safe, another device exploded nearby. There were no casualties, as the area had been cordoned off.
"Our assumption is that the bombs were planted ahead of Friday prayers in the mosque just nearby," civilian vigilante Babakura Adam said.
"Of course, it is Boko Haram's handiwork because in the last few days several arrests have been made of suspected female suicide bombers."
Adam said the arrests were made on Wednesday and Thursday.
Fears have grown in Maiduguri about an upsurge in Boko Haram attacks, after the militant Islamists took over more than two dozen towns in Borno and two neighbouring states in recent months.
Meanwhile, President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday promised that the attackers would be held accountable.
He spoke in a statement at the commissioning of the Federal High Court complex in Asaba, Delta state.
The President, who spoke through the Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, commended the Chief Judge and other justices in the state for their support for government's resolve to hold accountable all the perpetrators of terrorist acts across the country.
He said the presence of a high court in virtually all the states of the federation was a good development as it would bring justice closer to the people.
Jonathan said, "I have been duly informed that the practice directions issued by the court has contributed significantly to the reduction of trial delays and engendered speedy trial of terrorism and allied offences.
"This is in tandem with this administration's determined efforts to expand access to justice for the people and ensure that Nigerians are able to access the courts for the purposes of resolving their disputes."
The President also directed all security agencies in the country to launch what he called a full-scale investigation into the blast that occurred at the Central Mosque in Kano.
He asked them to leave no stone unturned until all terror agents across the country are apprehended and prosecuted.
Jonathan gave the directive in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, in which he described the Kano incident as a heinous attack.
In the face of the attacks however, the President called on all Nigerians not to despair "in this moment of great trial in our nation's history."
He asked them to remain united to confront the common enemy. He appealed to them to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to win the on-going war against terror.
The statement read, "President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan extends heartfelt condolences to the people and Government of Kano State over the heinous attack on the Central Mosque in Kano, earlier today.
"He commiserates with all the families who lost their loved ones. The President calls on relief agencies and medical personnel to deploy every possible effort to assist the injured, and the general public to heed the call for the donation of blood by the hospitals where the injured are being treated.
"The President has further directed the security agencies to launch a full-scale investigation and to leave no stone unturned until all agents of terror undermining the right of every citizen to life and dignity, are tracked down and brought to justice.
"The President reaffirms that terrorism in all its forms and manifestation is a despicable and unjustifiable threat to our society. He reiterates the determination of the government to continue to take every step to put an end to the reprehensible acts of all groups and persons involved in acts of terrorism.
"President Jonathan calls on all Nigerians not to despair in this moment of great trial in our nation's history but to remain united to confront the common enemy.
"The President is confident that no terrorist act against fellow citizens will destroy the Nigerian spirit to remain positive, resolute and united in the quest for lasting peace and security in the country.
"He appeals to all Nigerians to remain vigilant and cooperate actively with our security agencies to win the on-going war against terror."
The Northern socio-cultural group, the Arewa Consultative Forum, described the attack as wicked, callous and barbaric.
The ACF, through its National Publicity Secretary, Muhammad Ibrahim in Kaduna on Friday, said the group received the news of the blasts with shock and disbelief, adding that the several attacks in some part of the North in recent time were most disturbing.
According to the ACF, the insecurity situation in the region is a clear manifestation of the Federal Government's inability to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.
The Forum, therefore, called on the Federal Government to deploy all its apparatus to areas that are being confronted with Boko Haram insurgency.
A statement issued by the group read, "The Arewa Consultative Forum learnt with shock and disbelief the three bomb explosions that occurred in the Central Mosque near the Emir's palace in Kano city. The bomb blast aimed at Muslims in the mosque that left many dead and scores of others injured was wicked, callous and barbaric.
"The recent bomb explosions in Yola, Maiduguri, Azare, Kontagora and many other towns in the North coupled with the daily killing of innocent people by insurgents are very disturbing and worrisome.
"This insecurity situation that has engulfed the North is a clear manifestation of Federal Government's inability to protect the people as intelligence and equipment required to contain the situation appears lacking.
"ACF urges the people of Kano in particular to exercise some restrain, remain calm and avoid taking the law into their hands or blamed innocent people that have lived with them peacefully. We equally call upon the people to unite and protect themselves through intelligence sharing with security agencies."
The ACF, however, appealed to the Kano State Government and other states rocked by bomb explosions in the last one week to provide free medical treatment to the injured victims.

to keep her dinner cooking by surrounding the
pan with cushions.
The council also awarded a contract of
N60.9billion to an indigenous firm, KaKatar CE
Limited, for the provision of engineering
infrastructure for Kyami District, Zone C, Abuja.

He noted that the stoves which will be assembled
locally, will provide jobs to Nigerians among other
benefits.
The minister said, "The National Clean Cooking
Scheme is an aggressive drive to engender clean
cooking culture amongst the poor rural women,
to reduce and possibly eliminate cooking with
solid fossil which is detrimental to health.
"The scheme is expected to provide 20 million
clean stoves over a five-year period at the rate of
four million stoves yearly which will be distributed
without charge.
"It will also reduce incessant felling of trees which
exposes the country to ecological problems.

Illuminati : A Muslim Body (MURIC) have questioned The Jewish Symbol on The New N100 Note ( see full details here)

A Muslim body, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has released a statement expressing concern over what it termed a Jewish symbol on Nigeria's new N100 note which was unveiled recently.
The Director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, in the statement issued yesterday November 23rd, alleged the insertion of a Jewish symbol into the new currency, demanding explanation from the Federal Government. See the statement after the cut...
"The Federal Government, on November 12, 2014 unveiled the new design for the N100 commemorative centenary banknote which will be officially issued onDecember 19.
However, the office of the Muslim Rights Concern has been inundated with calls for action on the Jewish symbol on the new note. Nigerian Muslims are complaining that the Arabic writing in Hausa language (the Ajami script) that read 'Naira Dari' (i.e. one hundred naira) on the N100 note has been removed and replaced with the Jewish symbol, the Star of David.
As a faith-based human rights organisation which believes in the dialogue option, MURIC is duty bound to articulate the demands of Nigerian Muslims, particularly on matters which have to do with imbalance in treatment of the adherents of the different religions governments (federal or state).
MURIC recalls that Arabic inscriptions which have always been on Nigerian currency since independence were unceremoniously removed in 2005 from N5, N10, N20 and N50 denominations. They remained on N100, N200, N500 and N1,000 denominations.
Nigerian Muslims regard the latest action, namely, the supplanting of Arabic with Jewish symbol from the new N100 as a continuation of the campaign of elimination by substitution against Arabic language and, by implication, against Nigerian Muslims.
It is well known that a large section of the Nigerian population use the Arabic Ajami and removing it from the new note will deprive millions of users of the Arabic Ajami of the ability to recognise, identify and use the new currency.
Furthermore, putting the Jewish symbol on the new N100 falls short of international standard, as currencies worldwide are designed to suit each nation's culture and history.
Where does the Jewish symbol fit in? Which Nigerian community speaks the Jewish language? The insertion of the Jewish symbol is, therefore, clannish and parochial. It is tainted with undisguised religious fanaticism.
There is nothing wrong for our president to like Israel as a nation, but it is another thing entirely to openly and brazenly promote Zionism at the highest office in this country when we are still struggling with the last vestiges of colonialism. Nigerian Muslims are becoming increasingly suspicious and very uncomfortable with the actions and inactions of President Jonathan.
Firstly, in spite of the preponderance of Muslims in the South West, he appointed no single Muslim as minister in the whole region for almost four years. Secondly, he marginalised Muslims in the deliberations which took place in the national conference by appointing a meagre 189 Muslims as against 303 Christians.
Thirdly, Mr President saturated the security system in Aso Rock with Israeli security operatives, a nation well known for its animosity towards Muslims. The supplanting of Arabic language with Jewish symbol is the fourth among Jonathan's anti-Muslim policies.
If once is happenstance, if twice is a coincidence and if the third time is enemy action, what do we call the fourth time? We are sick and tired of our president's hatred for us. He openly confronts Muslims and goads us to challenge him.
"But we will not be provoked. Neither shall we be intimidated by executive maladministration. As apostles of dialogue and advocates of peaceful coexistence, as tax-payers, voters and citizens of this country, we hereby ask President Jonathan to explain the Jewish symbol on Nigeria's money.
We also demand to know why the presidency could not employ security experts from neutral countries like Britain or France instead of Israel, which is a sworn enemy of Muslims. Mr President may also deem it fit to tell us if there is no correlation between the Israeli security experts in Aso Rock, the Israeli caught with Nigeria's N9.3 million arms money in South Africa and the Jewish symbol on the new N100 note.
Mr President sir, are you not gradually selling Nigeria to Israel? Are you sure this will not attract the wrath of Israel's enemies to our dear country? Can this also be partly responsible for the viciousness of the Boko Haram phenomenon?
MURIC appeals to Muslims nationwide to await President Jonathan's response to the above questions and to remain calm and law abiding. Islam teaches tolerance (Qur'an 3:134) and obedience to constituted authority (Qur'an4:59)."

See Stephanie Linus Statement Addressing The Rape Allegations Against Her Brother

Actress Stephanie Linus addresses allegations against her brother
Stephanie Linus has released a statement addressing the rape allegations against her older brother, Daniel Okereke, who was arrested for allegedly raping a UNILAG student named Arinola (read here).

"Rape is Rape, Regardless of Who theFaceofthe Accused is" - Stephanie Linus
Iam distraught and devastated to hear of the recent allegation of rape brought against a relative of mine, Daniel Okereke (my brother).
While it is a very difficult time for me, and my family; I feel the need to make clear my position, lest there be any doubt. Rape is rape, regardless of who the face of the accused is.
Indeed, the irony is not lost on me. I have spent my lifelong career advocating and living my conviction that women around the world should be able to live free of violence, sexual harassment or any form of abuse against their persons. This conviction led me to be involved in numerous initiatives combating violence against women in several countries including the U.S, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
The conviction also led me to place much of my energy on my work with Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF), a passion that dates back to my time at the University of Calabar.
As a student, I heard a story about young girls who had been forced into early marriage and were suffering the negative and embarrassing effects of VVF. The story stayed in my consciousness and drove me, for years, to seek ways to raise awareness on the condition; leading to my work with a team of dedicated doctors to carry out repair surgeries for VVF victims across the country; and my self-produced, soon to be released movie, 'DRY.'
So, again, it is indeed heart breaking for me to receive and deal with news alleging a family member of mine is an alleged perpetrator of sexual violence against a woman. I am devastated.
This case is now in Nigeria's criminal justice system as the accused awaits arraignment. I have also encouraged and assured the alleged victim of my stance against rape and applaud her for her bravery to upset the culture of silence, in Nigeria; even as I accord deference and patiently wait for the criminal justice system to determine the guilt or innocence of my brother.
For Nigerian press and blogs; I call on you to please report this case in an ethical manner. I am a married woman living my life. The alleged transgression of my relative does not make it mine. The focus should be the impact of rape on the alleged victim, and resources for other alleged victims, not me.
Some members of the press and blogs have turned me into the accuser; using my name for sensational headlines and putting my images, exclusively, in their stories. This is a form of victimization of me as a woman, its unethical and extremely hurtful. I am not the alleged accused.
I therefore please ask all bloggers and the media who have placed my pictures and name to this story to refrain from further using me to sensationalise this story.
I thank my fans, and all well-wishers for your continued support and ask for your continued prayers.
God bless.

"Shut Up Your Mouth" Gov Fayose Tells Adams Oshiomole ( see full details inside)

Governor Oshiomole blasted Governor Fayose saying;

"If the Ekiti Governor is too lazy to read and too politically illiterate to know what is happening in Edo State House of Assembly, we expected his psychedelic media aides to simply shut their loud mouths rather than behave like capering neophytes."

Fayose has replied Oshiomhole via his Special Assistant on New Media.

See the press statement Below.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has told the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole to keep his mouth shut and stop meddling in Ekiti State issues.
The governor said Oshiomhole lacked moral rights to comment on happenings in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, having locked up the Edo State House of Assembly for over six months.

A statement issued by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka read;

"It is unfortunate that we are in a country where people who should naturally bury their heads in shame still speak.
"Aides of a supposed Comrade Governor, who look a hapless widow in the eyes and told her to "go and die" ought to know that they lack moral rights to speak in a saner clime.
"However, because we are in a Nigeria where anything goes, aides of a governor like Adams Oshiomhole, who relocated the sittings of his State House of Assembly to his bedroom in the Edo State Government House can open their oppressive mouths and defend the indefensible.
"Is it proper for a State House of Assembly to sit in the Government House? Should a State House of Assembly complex be put under locks and keys for six months? And can actions taken in the sitting of a House of Assembly held inside the Edo State Government House be said to have stamp of legality?
"Here we are with a supposed progressive Comrade Governor perpetuating ilegalities in Edo State with lawmakers of his party, APC sitting exclusively in the Government House where he resides with his wife and children, and instead of his aides to remove the timber in their boss' eyes, they are getting concerned with the toothpicks in another person eyes.
"The reality is that whether the APC lawmakers are 15 or 5, the lawmakers cannot sit anywhere else apart from the State House of Assembly. Or are they saying that the National Assembly can also relocate to Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos?
"It is our advise that Governor Adams Oshiomhole should solve the problems in the Edo State House of Assembly and stop meddling in the Ekiti State affairs because on June 21, 2014, the people elected their governor in person of Peter Ayodele Fayose, and millions of APC evil machinations cannot stop him from governing Ekiti State for four years."

AN ALLEGORY: HE WAS HASTENED BUT HE REGRETTED (Read and Be Inspired)

We thought we were good to acquire when we demanded for self rule thus, man succeeded in gaining the independence he had hoped for,he thought by gaining independence he can  free himself from the chains and obnoxious laws of colonialism meted upon him by the foreigners rather things pejorated when he United amicably thinking this unification will be a limelight of success which other countries will see and admire. He regretted exceedingly that he should have waited for the right time to decide his future, nothing is left for the future generations, every thing is lavished yet he says the future leaders will see some things to govern.

He proceeded to establish his own government,it is very pertinent to note that he succeeded at first but as time approaches another entity counteracted his government because of his incapacity to rule his people judiciously. He mismanaged the public funds and directed the money which are meant to be utilised for the welfarism of the multitudes into his personal account. This was seen as an abominable act thus, this boosted the morale of those who saw this scenario, nevertheless this entity subdued the government surprisingly ,the people rejoiced that indeed a saviour has come to rescue them hence, all the situations aggravated because the people were ab negated.

Freedom of speech, etc were abolished unlike the former which permitted such, the people cried and lamented but no one could hear their bitter expressions which have being impairing them,Other friends who waited for their time did not regret then, why must man hasten his steps because he wanted greatness? Why must he be impatient all in name of power? This is just an allegory of a country whose natural resources are sufficient to suppress their problems but underestimation still radiates amidst them. At this juncture I have to repose but I believe one day the truth will be unveiled.

Today In History: General Abacha Seized Power -- See full details inside

November 17, 1993 is one of the most notable dates in Nigerian history. That day, General Sanni Abacha seized the government and became Nigeria's seventh military dictator.

The incident happened at a time when Nigeria was in free fall.Gen
Ibrahim Babangida had just left government having ruled for eight years. The economy was bleeding.
Institutions were collapsing. Corruption and fraud had become the backbone of the society.

That year, after Babangida cancelled results of the June presidential election that Abiola won, there were riots in some parts of the country especially the south-west.

A lot of Nigerians had looked forward to 1993 as the year they'd be free from dictatorship, and they put their hope in Abiola and the 1993 election. They called it Hope '93.

So they were both furious and gutted when Babangida nullified the election and held on to power.
As the country boiled and support for Babangida faded, he set up an interim government in August and appointed Ernest Shonekan to head it, with Abacha as the vice. Then he left Aso Rock.
Some people believe he stepped aside as part of a calculation to tacitly work his way back into Aso Rock.
Anyway, people rejected the interim government, rioting continued and a federal court declared the government illegal.
The situation grew more chaotic. In the middle of this, Abiola and his supporters continued to heap pressure on the government in order to force a change in his favour.

Three months later, it happened.
That day, Abacha and his soldiers marched into Aso Rock and coerced Shonekan to resign. Then he took over the government.
Timothy says, "Many of us were very happy when Abacha took over.
We just wanted Shonekan to go away.
His government didn't get any respect.
We didn't vote for him. Someone just picked him and installed him there.
Nobody wanted him. In fact I think if the interim government had lasted some more time, there would been catastrophe, because Shonekan didn't have the mandate of the people and he couldn't control the army since he wasn't the constitutional head of state.
So when Abacha kicked him out, I was relieved and hopeful again that we would soon have our man, MKO, in the place."

But Abacha obviously wasn't interested in that direction. Soon after he became head of state, he began a bloody tyranny that Nigerians who lived under his rule would never forget.
Mustapha says, "If there's anything that Abacha would be remembered for, it is that his regime was a regime when there's no rule of law

Then on June 8, 1998, he died.

Article: "We squandered the grace and he became disappointed" (Must Read)

There are times we wonder may be the existence of God is practical or theoretical, one needs to understand that he is present in both. Years after years only one ruler dictates the affairs of mankind,if we keep questioning then we will look like a dullard who is not brainy. Different expressions yet there are no answers to clarify some questions about his creation and esssence,as time approaches we would understand why he chose to exist. We need to ask some vital questions: why is existence? Is he in existence to inconvenient man? What has he come to do? What will be the gain of man, death or banishment?

The above questions seems complicated and rigid but I  shall leave those questions for mankind in order to answer them as he wishes. We have been given a huge and strong mentality to think and rationalise yet no actions of mankind is relevant to the ways of his maker although it seems we are clever and wise when making those decisions but at the eleventh hour we tend to repent and return to him thus, the  gate of acceptance is closed,no way out and the only option is still one source which our maker.

I don't know who your maker is and if you have another maker,I want you to remember that there is a maker that made that your maker, and that maker cannot be understood. What can we do nor say? My articles are always short and direct, even if the world will come to an end and if it will not,we must not live  a life of disgrace because his grace his sufficient for us to live accordingly. Must we be forced to live a good life? Must we be handled with an obnoxious law before we abide? The time is short but the journey is long thus, discover yourself

Article : We never knew,we were deceived by Akinrulie Opeyemi Joshua

A moment came when they said we have a bright thus,we depended on this statement and we reposed. We waited for the magic astonishment to occur instead working towards it,we fold our arms thinking about an instantaneous miracle that will bring us to spotlight but we were disappointed because we have been deceived. Should we say it was a deceit? The answer is,no,they were just instigating our tarnished hopes may be that will make man to be more rational.

Mankind was created with a bright future but something went wrong hence,he needed to pay if he wants his future to be brighter, darkness covered the reality of mankind we could not detect good from evil and evil from good. We were left with our thoughts, nobody to put man through despite the difficulties and all what he can do is to rejuvenate himself by self believe.
  .

Many have assumed that the maker of mankind is silent. We must not be fallacious, man must give a proper scrutiny before his decision. The maker was disappointed when man succumb to death instead of life,he was reluctant to let man leave but he had to let man know that what he did. He told man frankly that he will pay if he wants a brighter future. But change of things came when mankind started deceiving each up till now the deception still continues. Be dexterous and be clever, don't be deceived because the maker is interested in your life.
