Former President Olusegun Obasanjo Back To School to study theology

Nigeria's former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, is set to go back to school for a higher degree in Christian Theology, after obtaining a Post Graduate Diploma in 2009.
He will formally enrol today as a graduate student at the headquarters of the National Open University of Nigeria in Lagos, where he hopes working towards a doctorate degree, beginning first with a Masters degree.
The former president also confirmed this and proudly said; "I'm going back to school because I have to have something to aspire to in every endeavour of life. I always aspire to something new in my farm. I do that in my international activities. I do it in my writing. I do it in the improvement of my academic work which helps to sharpen my brain and strengthen my faith," he said. We sincerely wish him all the best.

Police Arrest 19 People Over Murder Of Ex Ekiti NURTW Chairman (see full details here)

The Ekiti state police command has announced that it had so far arrested 19 people in connection with the murder of a former chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state, Chief Omolafe Aderiye.
This was as the Assistant Inspector-General in charge of Zone 8, Mr Christopher Dega and the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Mr Taiwo Lakanu, met with traditional rulers, as well as other stakeholders, in a bid to restore peace to the state.
According to the state police command, investigations had commenced on the 19 people arrested in connection with the murder, adding that the level of culpability of each of those arrested was being determined.
The police said those arrested, including a female, were picked up between Saturday and Monday.
Speaking on the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Victor Babayemi, confirmed the arrests and said "all of them are still with us as we are investigating their levels of culpability."
Eight traditional rulers, Oba Idowu Adamo Babalola (the Onitaji of Itaji and chairman of Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers); Oba Adebayo Adewole, the Ajero of Ijero-Ekiti; Oba James Adedapo Popoola, the Oore of Otun-Ekiti; Oba M. G. Adedeji, the Owa Ooye of Okemesi; Oba Olu Adegoke Adeyemi, the Alara of Aramoko; Oba Oluwole Ademolaju, the Oloye of Oye kingdom and Oba S. o. Ajiboye, the Onisan of Isan-Ekiti, attended the meeting.
Lakanu was said to have charged the traditional rulers on the need for them to maintain peace and help sustain it.
As of press time, Lakanu was still meeting with representatives of drivers' unions, commercial motorcycle operators and sundry stakeholders in the state on the need for all and sundry to maintain peace and allow for development.
Meanwhile EKITI State governor-elect, Mr Ayodele Fayose, on Monday, pleaded with the National Judicial Council (NJC) to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegation of assault on a judge and other incidents in the state recently.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja through Mr Owoseni Ajayi, a former Commissioner for Justice in the state and former chairman, Ekiti State Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), said the investigation, if carried out by the NJC, would expose cans of worms in the state judiciary.
He also urged the NJC, legal officers and Nigerians not to be swayed by the propaganda launched by the All Progressives Congress (APC), but to look at all issues at stake dispassionately and be guided by the truth.
Ajayi declared that all the news about Fayose causing trouble in the state was just part of a grand plan by the APC to cause crisis in the state, with a view to preventing the inauguration of Fayose on October 16.
"What Fayose is saying is that the NJC should launch a thorough probe into happenings in Ekiti State judiciary and through that, the rot in the system will be exposed.
"A lot of things are happening there and there are signs that some judicial officers are conniving with the outgoing governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi and the APC to halt the inauguration of a new government in the state.
"The current crisis is an agenda of the APC and their sole aim is to try and get through the back door what the people of the state did not give them on June 21, when they voted overwhelmingly for Fayose and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)," he added.
The former commissioner said Fayose did not and could not slap a judge, adding that "he cannot slap a house boy, let alone a High Court Judge. The media propaganda that he beat up a judge is an APC agenda to portray him in bad light, having failed to take his mandate through the back door.
"The Ekiti State Attorney-General, Wale Fapounda, has disclosed that he has spoken with the judge in question, and he spoke on Sunrise programme on Saturday morning on Channels TV, where he made it clear that the news that Fayose slapped the judge was all lies.
"Fayose did not enter Justice John Adeyeye's court because he had no business there. The tribunal venue, where Fayose went to, is quite a distance from Adeyeye's court. Then the pertinent question is, at what point did they meet?. Investigation will reveal all this."
Mr Ajayi noted that PDP leaders were aware of the various petitions written to the NJC by APC leaders in Ekiti, saying investigation would reveal the truth.

Jahborne first took to twitter to lash out at the blogger, dondumex before sending out the lawsuit demanding N250 million.

Finally Olabisi Onabanjo University Re-Opened

The management of Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, Ogun State has ordered the reopening of the school which was shut in August based on the orders of the State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun when students held several protests demanding for a reduction in their school fees.
The Head, Corporate Affairs Division, Vice-Chancellor's Office of the University, Niyi Oduwole, today however announced the reopening was based on the approval of the university's governing council and lectures will be stating immediately. Students are to resume tomorrow, 29thof September, 2014 in continuation of their 2013/2014 academic session and are expected to be of good behaviour, he said.

Woman arrested for pouring hot water on 12year old housemaid in Lagos. (Photos)

The police have arraigned one Mrs. Bethelyn Falade for allegedly torturing her housemaid with hot water.
The 27-year-old woman was said to have poured the hot water on the girl, Chinecherem Sunday, as punishment for her stubbornness.
The police said the hot water inflicted wounds on her chest in the process.
It was gathered that Falade's act was triggered by her missing laptop which the housemaid said was taken by her brother-in-law, identified simply as Lekan, while she was not around.
PUNCHMetrolearnt that the woman faulted Sunday's explanation, saying that the housemaid ought to have notified her before she inquired of the laptop.
Police said the Abia State-born Falade, in a burst of anger, grabbed a kettle on the gas cooker and poured it on the girl.
It was said that Falade's neighbours on Church Street, Powerline, in the Ijaiye-Ojokoro area of Lagos, alerted a human rights group to the incident, having sighted the victim's burnt chest. The group, it was learnt, reported the case to the police who eventually arrested Falade.
Falade appeared before a Magistrate's Court sitting at Ojokoro in the Ifako-IJaiye area of the state on two counts of maltreatment and assault.
The prosecutor, Lugard Ahonle, said the charges, to which the accused pleaded not guilty, were contrary to and punishable under sections 135 and 171 Vol.44 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
The counts read, "That you, Bethelyn Falade, of Church Street, off Cole Street, Powerline, Ijaiye-Ojokoro, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did unlawfully and indecently maltreat one Chinecherem Sunday, 12 years, by pouring hot water on her body on August 31, 2014 at about 11pm.
"That you, of the above address, in the aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully assault one Chinecherem Sunday by constantly beating her up."
After the defence counsel pleaded with the court that his client be granted bail in liberal terms, the magistrate, Mrs. T. Akani, admitted him to bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in the like sum.
Akani added that "The sureties must be gainfully employed, present three years of tax payment and their residential addresses must be verified by the prosecutor."
The matter was adjourned till November 17, 2014 for mention.

3 students shot after gunmen storm Enugu University of Science and Technology (full details)

Three students of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), are in critical condition at the the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) after being shot and wounded by suspected armed bandits who invaded their hostel, The Nation reports.
The affected students are currently undergoing intensive surgery at the hospital where they were rushed to in the early hours of Saturday. One of the students was shot in the stomach and it was suspected that some pellets of the bullet were lodged in his abdomen for which doctors are battling to remove.
The two other victims were also undergoing surgery at the hospital while efforts were being made to contact their parents.
The Unique Hostel where the incident occurred and other hostels within the Agbani Permanent site of the university, according to sources, have been placed under security watch as it was suspected that the gunmen could be members of a secret cult.
To forestall a reprisal attack, the source said, the management had taken measures to beef up security at the hostels with plain-clothe policemen deployed to strategic locations.
Police spokesman, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the armed attack said that preliminary investigations revealed that the gunmen could be "student robbers", assuring that the police would do everything possible to get to the root of the matter.
He could not say if any arrest had been made but he said that the command was already on top of the situation and would give further details after the ongoing investigations.
"From what we gathered when the gunmen attacked some students at the ESUT Unique Lodge, which is mainly Boys Hostel, there was a stiff resistance by the students who succeeded in arresting one of the gunmen. The arrested gunman alerted his armed colleagues who returned to the hostel and began shooting indiscriminately during which three of the students were shot and wounded," the police spokesman said.

There was Mayhem this morning 25 thursday at the Ekiti state High court after a judge, Justice John Adeyeye, was allegedly beaten up by thugs believed to be loyal to Governor-elect, Ayo Fayose, for allegedly being rude to him.


According to Premium Times, Fayose arrived the court house in company of about twenty of his 'supporters' for the Ekiti State Governorship Election petition tribunal which was to hold today.
The judge, seeing the number of supporters that accompanied Fayose to the court house asked him to direct them outside as they were not allowed inside the court premises. This is said to have infuriated Fayose and his supporters...

An enraged Mr. Fayose was said to have shouted the judge down. Immediately, the thugs pounced on Justice Adeyeye, beat him up and tore his clothes, while his co workers scampered and shouted for help. Following the development, judicial workers hurriedly shut down the court premises thereby preventing any court proceeding for hours before the police fired tear gas canisters to disperse the surging crowd. Justice Adeyeye is presently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Ado-Ekiti.
A similar scenario had played out on Monday when suspected PDP thugs stormed the high court premises, attacked the trial judge, some litigants and judicial workers in the bid to prevent hearing in a case to determine Mr. Fayose's eligibility for the June 21 governorship election. Mr. Fayose could not be reached on Thursday morning. He did not answer or return calls to his mobile telephone.

Man get re-arrested for robbery just 4 months after being released from prison

An ex-convict who was released from prison four moths ago after spending 7 years in kirikiri has been arrested again by men of the Lagos state Police command after he and his gang snatched a car in the Yaba area of Lagos.
According to Vanguard, Faruk Lawal and his gang snatched a car from its owner while the owner was having sex to a woman inside his car along Morrocco street in the Alade area of Yaba in Lagos.
Parading Faruk and one of his gang members at the state Police headquarters in Ikeja yesterday Sept. 23rd, the state Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti, said the young men where arrested after a distress call was put across to them of a car theft incident at the Yaba axis of Lagos
"Two armed robbers, named Babatunde Makinde and Faruk Lawal, were arrested. A search conducted on the vehicle led to the recovery of one double barrel pistol, two single barrel pistols and 28 live cartridges.The suspects confessed to have snatched the vehicle from its owner at gunpoint in Alade area of Yaba few hours before they were arrested and that the third gun belongs to one Dayo, a member of their gang who narrowly escaped arrest.Investigation is still ongoing with a view to arresting the fleeing gang members."
While being interrogated, Faruk expressed sadness he was heading back to prison.
"I never wanted to go with them. If I had listened to my instinct, I would not have been involved. It means I am returning to prison where I spent seven years. I was released just four months ago with a promise to turn a new leaf" he said

Amber Rose has filed for divorce from husband-of-1-yearWiz Khalifa... and she's gunning for full custody of their kid.
In the divorce docs -- obtained by TMZ -- Amber says they split on Monday and cites irreconcilable differences.
Amber is asking for full legal and physical custody of their 1-year-old son Sebastian. She's willing to give Wiz visitation.
And this is interesting. Amber acknowledges there's a prenup, which you would think would work in Wiz' favor, but she says it's valid ... presumably, she's not challenging it. The docs say the prenup provides spousal support.
As for why they split, there's been a buzz over the last few days of infidelity, but there's no mention of it in the papers.
We got video of Amber with some guy Tuesday in Bev Hills. Our photog asks her if Wiz is keeping a close eye onNick Cannon-- there are rumors they've hooked up, but she's mum.

Man r*apes 20-yr old girl and uploads her n*ude photos (see Photo)

A 30-year old man has allegedly r*aped a 20-year old girl in Lagos, southwest Nigeria and uploaded her pictures on the internet.
The suspect, Olaniyan Oluwakayode, who hails from Osun State, allegedly r*aped the girl in his apartment at Ifako area of Lagos. He was arrested by the police and brought to the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, WAPA, in handcuffs.
The victim (name withheld) from Akwa Ibom State, alleged that after being r*aped, Oluwakayode snapped her pictures despite pleas from his sister to desist from such barbaric act, saying Oluwakayode was never her boyfriend as he claimed.
"He stops me anytime I am going to work. He approached me and I told him I was not ready to give him a reply. I did not go to his house. On my way back from work on Tuesday last week, I saw someone running out of his house, because there is a bush around their compound so he jumped from the fence down and held my hand and said he wants to do what's on his mind.
"So I asked him why would he do what's on his mind when I have not even accepted his advances, he said he would do what is on his mind today; so he dragged me into the bush. When I wanted to shout, he brought out a knife and said if I shouted, he would kill me there.
"So from the bush, he dragged me to his house and locked the door. I tried all I could to open it but I couldn't because the door is an iron door and very strong. He used his legs to hold my neck, he tore my skirt, my pant and my bra. He beat me very well on my head, neck and body and removed my pant and he slept with me. After he finished sleeping with me, I couldn't shout again because he was beating me and forcing me to open my legs. When I refused, he also held my neck so I couldn't shout," she alleged.
According to her, when Oluwakayode's sister came back around 9.00pm, she asked her brother to open the door, asking him if he wanted to kill somebody's else child. The victim said when he heard his sister shouting, he took her to the second room and still slept with her after which she urinated on the floor.
"His sister then came through the second window and pleaded with him to let me go, telling him that if she was the person that was being treated like that, would he be happy about it? I started crying. I am 20 years old and I work as an Office Assistant and I learnt Fashion Designing.
"He has been asking me out for a long time. I was never his girlfriend, I have my own boyfriend. He r*aped me with pains, even his sister was crying and he snapped me immediately and his sister even said she will call his mother because even if she was the one they did that thing to, he would even over react," she stated.
The suspect, Oluwakayode denied r*aping her, saying she was his girlfriend.
"I was fighting with my girlfriend but they are accusing me of r*aping her. I never deny the fact that I snapped her picture when she was n*aked. We were fighting inside, but any other allegation levelled against me is a big lie. The only thing I did which I do not deny is that I snapped her n*aked picture.
"We were fighting inside and she has been hurting me for a very long period and we had an issue which made me delete her number. Last week, she flashed me. When I saw the strange number, I called the number back immediately. When I heard her voice, I asked her what she wanted because she told me that her name was Blessing, until we had the issue and she said her name is Comfort,"he explained.
According to him, he met her passing by in June when he approached her to ask her for her phone number, which she obliged.
"Immediately, I called her and on her way back, she flashed me and I called her back and we met. She even came to my house and we sat outside and talked. She agreed to date me. There was a day we spoke on phone and she was asking me if I had an apartment, I told her that I didn't want to rush into anything, that I wanted to settle down in my business. I do branding in my house at Ifako.
"They said I r*aped her, but one thing is that I have a conscience and she also has a conscience and let our conscience judge. I believe with all the proof, the truth is that I never denied beating her, I did beat her with my head on her face and on her back when she held my m*anhood; so all the allegation of bringing out a powder, a knife and belt, I did not do it because I have a conscience and she has a conscience, that's all," he explained.
Director of Child Development, WAPA, Mrs. Alaba Fadairo said the case would be charged to court as it was a case of raping and uploading the pictures on the internet.
"That's why I am going to follow it up to the letter and see that the matter is handled. There is no going back.
"It's a dent on the victim and it's not about r*ape, it's about putting her pictures on social media. I don't think anyone will want to opt out. You also know the government has zero tolerance for issues of child abuse except we are not in the know. He is likely to face imprisonment, but the number of years is at the discretion of the court."

3o year old Man Committed suicide in ekiti ( see Photos )

A young man in his ear­ly 30s, simply identified as Mundiu, has succeeded in eventu­ally hanging himself after two failed earlier attempts. Mundiu hanged himself at about 12am on Friday in Ayede-Ekiti community, Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Residents in the area told Saturday Sun that the deceased had been attempting suicide for three years over his alleged in­ability to free himself from the shackles of poverty.
"He used to complain about the fact that he was very poor and living a wretched life, that he wasn't making money to take care of himself. Two months ago, he had an okada (motor­cycle) accident that almost claimed his life.He was moved out of the community for treat­ment. Two weeks ago, we learnt that he was dead but just three days ago, we sighted him in the community. Yesterday (Thurs­day), people heard him saying that by today (Friday) the peo­ple of Ayede community would witness an amazing drama. No one really read any meaning to what he was saying. We didn't know that he was referring to this suicidal action", a resident of the area and neighbour to Mundiu, who craved anonymity told Saturday Sun.
Another neighbour of the deceased said that Mundiu was found dead by one of his neigh­bours, a deaf, simply identi­fied as Taiwo.
"It was past 12 midnight this morning, a deaf neighbour of the deceased, who we call Taiwo, raised the alarm that he saw something strange and alerted others to come and see it. We were asking him what it was that happened but because he could not hear us, he didn't answer us. All we did was to just follow him to where he was directing our attention to. Eventually, he took us to where the deceased had hanged himself. He was already dead by that time. So, we just left him as you have seen him.
We immediately called the police but as you can see, they haven't come.
Mundiu had attempted sui­cide two times before now. The first time, he had tried to hang himself but thankfully, his fa­ther caught him and stopped it. Since then, his father had kept the rope as an object of re­membrance. Now his father is dead and could not witness this abominable act, he has eventu­ally committed.His second attempt at kill­ing himself was a time we were told he just jumped into a river. That happened in Lokoja, Kogi State. God had brought people on time to rescue him. This was his third time and no one was there to stop him, "

A Lesbian woman was executed for starving girlfriend's 9yr old son to death (photos and full details)

Lisa Coleman, 38, was pronounced dead at 6:23pm today in Huntsville, Texas. She had been on death row for the past eight years, after being convicted of the 2004 death of her girlfriend's 9yr old son, Davontae Williams (right)who had been beaten and bound, and whose body bore more than 250 scars when officials discovered him on July 26, 2004.He had also been starved, weighing a mere 35 pounds at the time of his death.
Witnesses said Coleman appeared to be at peace with the execution on Wednesday telling her jailers: 'I'm ready. I know where I'm going. I'm not bitter, just ready'. She then smiled and blew kisses at the supporters gathered at her execution and said 'God bless you all'. Her last words were directed at her fellow inmate, Darlie Routier. 'Tell them I finished strong.' Coleman was given a lethal injection at 6pm and was pronounced dead at 6:23pm.No one showed up to represent the victim, Davontae.
She is the sixth woman to be executed in Texas since 1982. The lastwoman put to death was Suzanne Basso on February 5 of this year.
Davontae's mother and Coleman's former girlfriend, Marcella Williams(pictured left), is currently serving a life sentence for his death, after reaching a plea deal.
Williams, who was just 14-years-old when she gave birth to Davontae, had been investigated by Child Protective Services seven times between 1995 and 2002. In 2002, they lost track of the family.
Prosecutors in Coleman's case used the charge of kidnapping to justify asking for the death penalty.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, they argued that Coleman 'did not allow Davontae to have visitors, kept him from visiting others by restraining him and told people he was not at the apartment when he was there.'
The young boy's ultimate cause of death was malnutrition.
Paramedics who arrived on the scene after it was reported the child was having trouble breathing found him dressed in nothing but bandages and a diaper, and reported that the boy had clearly been dead for several hours.

Mankind is so depending on what will not accede with them thus,they think angels are on guard to secure their ways.I doubt if mankind sees beyond their empirical concept,if angels were to be on earth, should that mean relaxation is for mankind?Man tend to embrace unseriousness because of protection and huge guidance by the supreme being thus,there words have been restricted in order not to exasperate the one unknown.
Mankind options are looks broad but it is a narrow one,so where will they start from . Should they start from retrospect or prospect yet the preception of the supreme being favoured some and did not favour some . Although he is not belligerent about his laws or rules he just makes sure mankind does not deviate from the right path but it is pathetic that some men saw this as an act of insolence geared towards man thus,they began to question their maker may be he will be able to amend his laws for the benefit of all.
Yet nobody is able to question is essence and existence,people are contemplating about the sudden demolition of the world which will bring about a world. A new world of comfort and harmony which hardship will disappear,this his a vision envisioned by the maker and majority have believed this certain and uncertain proclamation.....Hmm,the time is drawing near which questions will not be answered and answers will be like questions.

Angry Students Stone Afe Babalola (see full details here)

Students of Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, on Saturday attacked the founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Afe Babalola, as they protested over power outage in Erinfun community.

SUNDAY PUNCH gathered that the students were angry that while they had been without electricity for over a month, a hostel for the junior staff of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, in the same area enjoyed power supply.
The irate students stoned the vehicle of the founder of ABUAD, who was in the car. They also attempted to vandalise the hostel.
The protest caused a traffic gridlock on the road, which stretched over a kilometre.
The arrival of anti-riot policemen, who tried to disperse the students by firing canisters of tear-gas, further provoked them. The students in return threw stones and canisters of the fired tear-gas at the police.
The students, who failed to listen to pleas by the new Ekiti Commissioner of Police, Mr Frederick Lakanu, blocked the Ado-Ijan-Ikare highway.
Commenting on the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Victor Babayemi, said 30 students were arrested and would be charged to court for breach of public peace.
Many commuters were left stranded. A motorist, who simply gave his name as Mr. Jaye, who was on his way to Nigeria Immigration Service office area narrated his experience to our correspondent.
"I planned to visit my siblings at the Immigration office but I had to return to my house because the traffic was standstill. The students are protesting because we have not had power supply for over a month in Erinfun. All efforts made to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria to address the situation did not yield any response.
"The students are protesting because of the nonchalant attitude of the PHCN," he said.
The Public Relations Officer of ABUAD, Mr. Tunde Olofintila, confirmed that the protesters attacked Babalola's vehicle and the hostel.
He said, "They complained that the Erinfun community had not been having power supply for over a month and Chief Afe Babalola, as an elder statesman and one of those who facilitated the siting of the polythenic to the state, decided to intervene."
"He called the rector of the polytechnic, and asked the students to send three of their representatives to meet with the unit head of the PHCN. They agreed but later said they were not going to meet with the PHCN and started the riot.
"They stoned Chief vehicle and attacked part of the hostel in the community. We had no option but to alert the police, who came to restore normalcy.
"The students and some residents in the area asked why Chief Afe Babalola's hostel had electricity when the community didn't have for over a month and we explained to them that the hostel was running on a generator and that it was the PHCN that was responsible for power supply and not Chief Afe Babalola," Olofintila added.

Unfortunately it is we the British public that in the end will pay the price for our Parliament's selfish decisions.'We all know they force these hostages to make these statements but why even say it if you know they will still kill you? Murder: Evangelist shoots father to death in Enugu ( Photo )

A 30-year-old man who claimed to be an evangelist, Chukwukezi Afonogu, is now cooling his heels in the custody of the Enugu State Police Command for killing his 65-year-old father, Judge Afonogu (not a member of the judiciary) with a gun.
Afonogu allegedly committed the heinous act because the father purport­edly called him a 'mad boy' during an altercation, an insult that enraged him so much and prompted the fatal shooting of the old man.
According to Sun,The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu, who made this known to Sunday Sun, said the incident happened at 3pm on Au­gust 25, 2014 in Enugu-Inyi, Oji River Local Government Area, Enugu State.
The suspect was said to have been having frequent quarrels with his father. On the fateful day, in the midst of an­other altercation, Afonogu allegedly re­trieved his gun from his room, came out into the family compound and shot his father where he was seated and resting under a tree in the afternoon.
Recounting to Sunday Sun how the incident happened, Afonogu said:
"I am an evangelist and member of the Evergreen Believers Bible Ministry. Be­fore this thing happened, I was having several quarrels with my late father. My father called me on that fateful day and asked me about an electri­cian that was supposed to work in our house and he gave me N500. My late father was a difficult person. The incident happened around 3.00pm. My father called me a 'mad boy' and a quarrel ensued. I went inside the room and took my hunter's gun and shot him. I quickly carried him to a nearby bush and buried his corpse because nobody was at home. Imme­diately I buried him, I ran away. My late father had eight children. The first born died and we have six girls and I am the only son."
The police boss further disclosed that the mother of the suspect, Anthonia Afonogu ran away from home upon hearing that her son had killed his father.
But nemesis caught up with the suspect when youths in the commu­nity heard that he killed his father. They launched a manhunt for him, and were able to smoke him out four days later. Once caught, the youth beat him to an inch of his life before handing him over to the police at the Oji River Police Station.

Fatal accident on Lagos - Ibadan expressway ( Photos )

Nine persons including a child died this morning in a fatal multiple accident that occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

According to eyewitnesses, 2 Mazda cars collided with a Petrol tanker which immediately busted into flames. Men of the Nigeria Fire Service, Police and FRSC are currently at the scene managing the situation. The fire has since been put out but the traffic is still said to be on a standstill.

Cultists Kill Roast and Eat 9 Year Old Boy in Minna. (PHOTO)

The Nigerian Tribune is reporting an unusual cult group which specializes in eating roasted human flesh in Kuso Village in Lavun Local Government Area, Minna in Niger state has been apprehended by the Niger state police force according to the website, Crime & Security.
The cult group which comprises of an aged grandmother, Fatima and her accomplices Tetengi (male) and one Aminatu, were arrested for murdering a nine year old boy, Umar, roasting the body and eating it.
Prior to the victim's murder, his father, Mohammed (surname withheld) had placed him in care of his mother, Fatima, pending his arrival from a short journey within the state – however, things turned out unexpected.
A police source at the Homicide unit of the Criminal Investigation Department, Niger State Police Command headquarters, Minna, disclosed that Fatima, who happens to be the first suspect, gave the boy to the second suspect, Tetengi with an understanding to slaughter the boy and share his body among the three of them which included Aminatu.
Investigations by the police revealed the victim was slaughtered by Tetengi, who roasted the boy and shared his body with Fatima and Aminatu as planned. Upon his return from his trip with no trace of his son, the victim's father reported the case at the Bida Divisional Police Headquarters, to unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of the nine-year-old boy. The Police commenced preliminary investigation into the matter after which the arrests of the three suspects were made and the case was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department of the state police command.
The suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation by the homicide detectives adding that human flesh was tastier than those of animals. The Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ibrahim Abiodun Gambari, confirmed the incident saying
"the three suspects confessed to the crime upon interrogation and were charged to court on first information report forthe offence of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, cannibalism and killing of an innocent citizen, an offence punishable under the law."

Nigerian man arrested for r_ping a woman in the US (photos and full details)

29 Nigerian man based in Brookline, Massachusetts, Samuel Okorie is accused of grabbing a woman at a public place & s*xually assaulting her. The incident took place over the weekend in a residential neighbourhood.
According to police report, early Sunday morning, police came to the house (right), in Brookline and arrested Samuel Okorie. He was booked on charges including r*pe, kidnapping and robbery. A 21 year old woman identified Okorie as the man who s*xually assaulted her. Police say the victim ran up the street, crying for help. Neighbours said she was screaming 'help me, help me'. When a neighbour approached her, she said "he r*ped me, he's coming to get me.".

Police report says Okorie grabbed the woman from behind near a gas station on Saturday night, grabbed her cellphone and pushed her into nearby bushes where he sex-ually assaulted her. Reports states that Okorie then dragged the girl to his home where another s*x-ual assault took place.
Detectives said the victim attempted to escape many times but was restrained by Okorie. Eventually she did manage to get away and ended up at a neighbour's house down the street, who then called the police.
Neighbours described Okorie as quiet, friendly and were surprised he was involved in something like this.
He has been arrested and is currently held at the Allegheny county jail. His bail is set for $150,000. A hearing is scheduled for next week

A beggar has been arrested and charged to court in Lagos for allegedly attempting to kidnap a little child.
31-year-old Gboyega Dauda was accused of trying to abduct Ismail Abdullahi, a toddler.
Dauda was charged today, September 9, 2014 before a Magistrates Court in the Tinubu area of the state.
The prosecutor,Koti Aondohemba, told the court that the suspect committed the offence on September 8 at about 4 p.m on Lagos Island.
He said:
"…As he crossed the road, some passers-by who noticed the strange movement of the accused quickly apprehended him before he could abscond with the boy."

The accused pleaded not guilty to the crime.

(Photos) Mother removes 5-yr old son's eyes with a spoon because he refused to worship satan

A Mexican family has been jailed for gouging out the eyes of their five-year-old relative with a spoon during a satanic ritual to bring about the end of the world.
Fernando Caleb Alvarado Rios was ordered to close his eyes out of respect with his mother, grandparents, aunt and uncles as they danced in a circle and called on Satan to reveal himself.
But when he was too scared to do so, his mother, Maria del Carmen Garcia Rios, grabbed a spoon and the entire group gouged them out.They were caught when neighbours, who had heard loud chanting, came to investigate and saw the child screaming in pain.
Today, more than two years after the incident in May 2012, a court has sentenced the group to 30 years each in jail.
His motherThe family, from the town of Nezahualcoyotl, believed the ritual would bring them closer to Satan who could claim them as his own and save them from a deadly earthquake.
Neighbour, Joaquin Arguello, told the court, that he had always thought the family were devout and deeply religious, but had not realised that they were Satanists.
He said: 'We could hear screaming and we were banging on the door but nobody was answering, then a police patrol came past and one of the women who was with us ran into the road to flag it down, and officers forced their way inside.' Policeman Benet Curiel said that they had witnessed the scene of horror inside in which the scantily clad Satanists had been hunched over the screaming boy in the kitchen and that the two women were covered in blood.
'I asked one of the women what was going on and she told me her name was Carmen Rios Garcia, and that the boy was her son.'She identified him as Fernando Caleb Alvarado Rios, and said he was five years old, and said that she and her sister Lizbeth had done it.'
She admitted that she had told him repeatedly to close his eyes and when he had told her 'No, I do not want to close them' she had ordered the others to help remove his eyes.
