Article "THE LIVING IN A DEAD LAND" by Akinrulie Opeyemi

Let the four corners of the world be attentive and let's forget libidinosity attached to our lives. It is time for us to stand up and scrutinize ourselves about the importance of this life rather than gyrating without objectives. Who will help us? Who will advise us or rescue us?
If we can't stand at least we can take a walking stick for a start. Our dead ancestors have nothing to do to these calamities even if we tend to seek their instructions, how about the concept of old and new battling for a place? Who will win?. As hopes will be created for few not all and this will be survival of the fittest. How fit are we to engage in a battle that won't end?
How can the living be in accordance with the dead? On what purpose? Whose thinking is vast or myopic? Some are dead but living as if they are living thus, they might not be truncated if even they are in the state of ailment. What can I say? What can I do? Every man for himself and whosoever survives might  not be the champion but there is someone who will decide not him but him.
At this juncture I repose, since it is left for us to decide about the notions of life

Article: THE COMPULSORY UTTERANCE" by Akinrulie Opeyemi

"
Why do we need to care about others? Who told us that? Of what use? Of what essence? As the case may be we have been given an order which is now dictating our lives. How free are we? We can't move with our own will except this order gives an order to radiate. We were created for what purpose, death or life? Yet we are waiting for a reward which will continue to be an imaginary hypothesis.
We have been deceived,of course we can perceive it but the fear instilled in us can't rescue us but tie us down. Edicts must be questionable and are we bold to ask some rational questions? But fear has concealed our utterances we can't speak nor talk thus,we do things as they are but some are susceptible yet we are not willing. A mansion has been built but it will be for those who are pure in heart but not for those who are not pure in heart. Why the condemnation? This people are not meant for demolition but saving them will be of huge importance.
We are silent hence,as for me ,give me death or liberty. We just watching and looking like a moron whose life is programmed and arranged. I will not say much because of the reading culture in this contemporary world but those who have an innatism that is paranormal put it in praxis.

Article "AN ALLEGORY OF DESTRUCTION by Akinrulie Opeyemi

"AN ALLEGORY OF DESTRUCTION"
Heaven rise up and earth be prepared for a huge war. Let's the footsteps of mankind be stabilised even the supremacy is still in doubt. We must not hide our feelings but those feelings must be displayed. Mankind has been promised a second chance to an everlasting life.
At first we were not the ones that committed that calamity. How can the sins of our ancestors be meted on us? How merciful and brutal? Yet the songs we sing are to elevate what existed long ago with a performance that can still be sceptical. We must not forget that,we are who we are by the standards given to us with restrictions.  How can we move when every where is blocked? Will there be a faculty of thinking?
Although I may be fulminated or castigated for my expressions but truthfulness might be hard to convey while deception is the simplest way to glean destruction. I am using this aphorism to intensify the dead sounds in man's heart in order to function judiciously.
Visions doesn't mean prophecy and to be a prophet doesn't mean you have it all. It is a nomenclature that has to be buttressed or supported.

Fayose Calls For Street Jubilation As APC Lawmakers End Tenure

The Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has called out his supporters to rejoice with him on the streets today over the expiration of the term of the 19 All Progressives Congress, APC, who had been at loggerheads to impeach him.

The APC lawmakers had on April 4, 2015 issued a notice of impeachment to Fayose, citing cases of abuse of office and gross misconduct.
The lawmakers were, however, met with resistance as PDP members blocked all entry points into the state in order to avoid human and vehicular movement into the state.
Finally, as their tenure ended, Fayose called on citizens to jubilate withh him. "I want to thank the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members, commercial drivers and motorcyclists, market men and women and citizens of this state for their continued support for me while the face-off lasted.

"With the expiration of their tenure, there is relief for me and my administration, and it is now time to perform my duties as governor of the state. In view of my travail in the hands of the outgone lawmakers, reprieve has now come to my government and I can now feel like a governor.

"By tomorrow, Friday, June 5, (today) I shall be embarking on a town procession in Ado Ekiti to thank my people for their support. I want you to meet me at Fajuyi Park where I am going to commence the procession and move around to give glory to God and humanity." Fayose said.

20 UNN Students Died In Car Accident While Travelling (photos)

TWENTY students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, were feared dead in a multiple road accident late on Tuesday, eyewitnesses said on Wednesday.

Our correspondent learnt that the victims met their deaths on the Nsukka-9th Mile Expressway while travelling to their homes in a commercial mass transit bus after the UNN authorities had directed the students to embark on a compulsory two-week break.

A statement by the university's Chief Public Relations Officer, Okwun Omeaku, had directed the students to vacate the school with immediate effect.

Although the UNN management had described the closure as a "mid-semester break", students told our correspondent that the school was shut to avert an action said to have been planned by the students to protest the lack of electricity and water in their hostels.

The students had been directed to vacate their hostels before 6:00 pm on Tuesday.

Though the Enugu State Police Command said only three undergraduates died in the accident, eyewitnesses said no fewer than 20 students of the UNN perished in the accident.

Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, in a statement made available to journalists, said apart from the three who lost their lives, five other students sustained injuries in the accident.

Amaraizu said, "Three persons have been confirmed dead while five others sustained various degrees of injuries. The injured are being attended to at Our Saviour Hospital, 9th Mile Corner, Ngwo, while the dead bodies are also deposited at the same hospital mortuary.

"The auto crash involved a diesel truck with registration number AWK 311 XB, which is believed to have lost control as a result of suspected brake failure and hit two buses with registration numbers UWN 406 XA and UWN 57 XA and also a motorcycle."

Before the closure of their school on Tuesday, our correspondent learnt that the students had planned to embark on a demonstration over the lack of electricity and water in their hostels.

It was learnt that the planned demonstration was to take place within the week.

A student, who pleaded anonymity, had told our correspondent that there had been acute water scarcity and zero power supply in their hostels for a very long time.

Governor Fayose declares dusk-to-dawn curfew in Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has declared a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Ado Ekiti to prevent the raging fight between transport workers and Hausa traders from spreading to other parts of the state.
The governor, while addressing the Hausa Community in the Atikankan area of Ado Ekiti, said the curfew, starting from 6pm and ending at 6am, would begin on Thursday, directing security agencies to arrest whoever failed to comply with the order.
The governor, who appealed to the Hausa community to be patient, promised that they would get justice.
He said, "You said you love me, this is the time you have to show this love. I want to plead with you to submit whatever lethal weapon you have in your possession to the police. And if you refuse to do this, whether you are Yoruba or Hausa, the police will arrest you.
"Nigeria belongs to all of us and for the sake of our country, I plead with you to allow peace to reign."
The state Secretary of National Union of Road Transport Workers, Mr. Akinsola Osundiya, at a briefing with journalists in Ado Ekiti, distanced members of the union from the crisis.
"Our members do not load vehicles in that area, so we were not in anyway involved in the clash with the Hausa traders," he said.
The Chairman of Hausa Community in Ekiti State, Alhaji Adamu Imam, appealed to the state government for monetary assistance for those whose property were damaged by hoodlums during the crisis.
Imam said the names of the perpetrators of the violent attack had been compiled and would be made available to the governor and security agencies for necessary actions.
However, the Ekiti State Police Command said the number of injured had risen to 24 in the violent clash between Hausa traders and some drivers in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Alberto Adeyemi, on behalf of the Police Commissioner, Mr Etop James, said two of those injured sustained gunshot wounds and were receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
"Nobody died in the incident contrary to reports. Only two persons sustained pellet wounds while 22 others sustained varying degrees of injuries," he added.

Crisis in ado ekiti as drivers and traders clash. (click to view full details)

The crisis took place a day after the resumption of a new Commissioner of Police, Etop John James, in the state.

The violence later spread from Erekesan Market –Old Garage –Mugbagba axis to Atikankan area, a converging point for many Hausa traders in the state.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Alberto Adeyemi, four persons were wounded in the crisis and are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

As of the time of filling this report, the popular business areas of Ado Ekiti such as Ajilosun, Okeyinmi, Okesha and Irona among others have become a no-go area to both vehicles and pedestrians, while banks operating in the city hurriedly shut down.

An eyewitness account, however, said three persons were feared dead as the fracas snowballed into a full scale war and almost turned into ethnic war.

But the butchers, mainly Yorubas fought on the side of the Hausas against the transport workers whom they accused of undue harassment and unprovoked attacks.

Mr. Sunday Adigun, a cameraman with the Core TV, narrowly escaped being  killed as he received beating while his camera was smashed for trying to cover the fight by the hoodlums.

The hoodlums suspected to be fighting for the transport workers brandished dangerous weapons including guns, bottles, charms, clubs, cutlasses and knives.

A freelance journalist, Sunkanmi Oso, was quizzed at gun point by one of the hoodlums to explain his mission in the crisis zone.

Goods and properties worth several millions of Naira were lost as hoodlums took over the market and set many shops ablaze after looting them while no fewer than five vehicles belonging to the drivers were vandalised.

Mostly affected were Bureau de change operators, butchers and traders.

Another eyewitness account said trouble started on Tuesday night when a bag belonging to wife of a Chieftain of road transport workers was snatched by unknown persons along the ever busy Ijigbo-old garage area of the city.

It was learnt that the victim was raped by the assailants after dispossessing her of her belongings, a development that irked the drivers.

An eyewitness said the victim's husband reported the matter to his members after efforts to know the identities of the perpetrators proved futile.

While addressing both sides of the residents at old garage and Atikankan, the new CP expressed regrets over the incidence and vowed to restore normalcy in no time.

He said he expected people of the state to give him the honour of information before going to the streets, knowing fully well that he just resumed on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti on the orders of the IGP, Mr. Solomon Arase, over the spate of kidnapping and other heinous crimes in the state

Two Nigerian Men Arraigned In Vietnam For N30m Fraud

Two Nigerian men;  Christian Nnadikwe, 34, and Collins Deke, 37 and a Vietnamese woman, Le Thi Kim Quyen, 35, have been arraigned for fraud in the central province of Khanh Hoa.

A court in the central province of Khanh Hoa has sentenced a Vietnamese
woman and two Nigerian men to between 12 and 15 years in prison for hacking into emails of local companies to swindle money from their foreign partners.

Le Thi Kim Quyen, 35, and her accomplices – Christian Nnadikwe, 34, and Collins Deke, 37 – were also found guilty of another fraud scheme, in which they pretended to be a British friend of two Vietnamese women on Facebook and asked them to send money as shipping fees to receive gifts.

Quyen got 15 years while Nnadikwe and Deke each received 12 years.

Another Nigerian suspect and Quyen's de facto husband, Mark Mamado Abdallah, 39, is still at large.

The group pocketed over VND3.3 billion (US$150,000 or N30m) between April and August 2013, according to the indictment. Most of this came from the email hacking scheme.

Prosecutors said over the four months, Quyen and Abdallah hacked into the emails of several Vietnamese companies doing business with foreign companies.

They gave the information to Nnadikwe and then Deke, who would later transfer it to another Nigerian man living in Malaysia.

This man, referred to as Chief Brother, then used the compromised email accounts to contact the victims' foreign partners, asking them to send payments to a bank account opened by Quyen and Abdallah.

The men, who stole 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit valued at approximately N3.2m, had been arraigned before Justice Okon Abang last year August along with one Alabi Olayinka, an accountant in a petrol station in Lagos.

But Abang, who convicted Abass, Adetoro, Tope and Abegunde on counts three and four of the charge, discharged and acquitted Olayinka.

The judge, who said the evidence before the court did not link Olayinka to the crime, said Olayinka would have a good case against the police if he sued for “unlawful arrest, detention and malicious prosecution.”

Pronouncing the sentence, Abang refused the plea by the defence counsel to temper justice with mercy, saying “nobody should commit an offence and expect the court to show mercy.”

“They have no sympathy for this country and the citizens. In spite of all the efforts made by the Federal Government to protect the petroleum pipelines and make petrol to get to everybody with ease, the convicts and their cohorts have made consistent efforts to sabotage and frustrate the effort of the Federal Government,” the judge said.

Describing them as harbingers of evil, the judge said the convicts cannot not plant thorns and expect to harvest flowers, adding that it was shameful that in spite being blessed with petrol, Nigerian citizens were still suffering from scarcity on account of the activities of vandals.

According to the charge marked FHC/L/220c/2014, the four convicts with some suspects still at large conspired and damaged oil pipelines and stole 33,000 litres of PMS belonging to the NNPC on July 13 along Epe/Ikorodu road in Lagos.

They were said to have been apprehended while selling the stolen products to filling stations in the city.

The offence, according to the prosecution contravened sections 390 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap C38, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 and Section 7 (a) and (b) of the Miscellaneous Offence Act, Cap M 17, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

Abang, in his judgment, ordered the petrol stations that bought the stolen products to make restitution in the sum of N3.2m to the Federal Government within seven days of the judgment.

The court also ordered the sale of the tanker used in conveying the stolen product by auction within 14 days of the judgment.

The prosecution was ordered to pay the proceeds into the coffers of the Federal Government

Nafisat was said to have been alone in the family apartment and still basking in the euphoria of her academic success, on the April 27, when the rapists reportedly pounced on her.

A resident of the area, who pleaded anonymity, while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, stated that the late Nafisat's mother, a teacher, had reportedly gone to school when the incident occured.

It was also gathered that it was the mother of the deceased, who returned from the school to find her daughter Unclad and in a pool of blood, before she alerted her neighbours.

There was, however, no trace of the perpetrators of the dastardly act as at Sunday afternoon, as residents of the area were still baffled by the circumstances surrounding the death.

16yr old Teenager Abducts, Rapes Two- year-old Girl in Lagos

A two-year-old toddler, Precious (pseudonym)
has been raped by one Azeez Ganiyu, after she
was abducted from her residence on Giwa
Street, Ijora Badia, Lagos State.
The incident happened on April 16 at about
10am after the victim's mother left her in a
room with a neighbour to buy food at a nearby
shop.
According to PUNCH Metro, 16-year-old Ganiyu
abducted the girl when she walked outside to
play with other children. He reportedly took her
to an uncompleted building, said to be a few
kilometers
away from the victim parents' house, and raped
her.
Precious' mother and neighbours were thrown
into confusion when they did not see the girl in
the surroundings. After minutes of fruitless
search, it was learnt that the mother suddenly
heard a baby screaming and traced the voice to
the uncompleted building, where she allegedly
met Ganiyu committing the crime.
Precious was taken to a hospital where it was
medically confirmed that she had been raped.
And the suspect, who also resides in the
community, was later arrested by the police at
the Ijora Badia Police Division.
The police subsequently arraigned Ganiyu before
an Apapa Magistrate's Court on one count of
rape. The charge read:
"That you, Azeez Abdulganiyu (16), on
April 16, 2015, at about 10am on Giwa
Street, Ijora Badia, Lagos in the Apapa
Magisterial District, did unlawfully have
carnal knowledge of a two-year-old girl."
The police prosecutor, Inspector Olusoji
Ojaokomo, told the court that the offence
contravened provisions of Section 137 of the
Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The
defendant, however, pleaded not guilty before
the court

BOKO HARAM Is Fraud says BUHARI

President-elect,
General Muhammadu Buhari says the Boko
Haram will be denied a recruitment base the
moment our local communities realize that its
claim to being a religious group is nothing but a
fraud.
"The fraud called Boko Haram can be defeated by
denying it a recruitment base," General Buhari
told visiting leaders of Nassarawa State who
came to congratulate him on his emergence as
President-elect.
"No religion allows for the killing of children in
school dormitory, in markets and places of
worship. They have nothing to do with religion.
They are terrorists and we are going to deal with
them as they deal with terrorists anywhere," he
announced.
Buhari said he is greatly pained by the
destruction of schools in the North-eastern part
of the country, an action he said could deny
thousands of youngsters access to education and
a better future unless something was done
urgently to avert this tragedy.
"The worst thing anybody can do is to deny
children access to education. That will be
destructive to their lives and we are not going to
allow that to happen," the President-elect
assured.
He announce that his government will help the
states to get more money to improve
infrastructure by ensuring that all federally
collectible revenues are paid directly into the
federation account and each tier of government
given its due share.
"As at now, the government does not even know
how many revenue accounts it has. We will give
all the tiers what is due to them but will hold
them to be accountable as we would the federal
government."
Buhari while describing Nassarawa state as his
own "political laboratory", meaning the only CPC-
controlled state of the 36 others adjudged the
experiment as having been a success.
"From one state, I now have 22 political
laboratories."
He commended Governor Al-Makura for surviving
his many impeachment plots, saying "without
Nassarawa, there would not have been an APC."

Article: How God came down in that country By Akinrulie Opeyemi Joshua

Years after years man has been lamenting
about the same routine
thus, this is between castigation and eulogy
whose routine is suitable for
living. Some laws have been formulated to
ensuring the standards of mankind
but these laws were formulated in order to
instill fear in mankind instead
it aggravated the condition.
Every man's purpose is to be successful but
how do we accede with the
maker in making everyone a successful
commodity? Is it the case that he has
distinguished people from people therefore
applying favourism to some
parts? Mankind shoulders are up and they are
curious to know the reason why
things are normal and abnormal and even
partial normal. Man has been
deceived and he is even suffering from the
disaster he did not commit. Why
should the sins be meted on man? For no
reasons he wanted to prove his
superiority over man,he has succeeded in
allocating every thing to all
beings.
It is assumed that this unjust world will come
to end but when? Man
feels everything will work out for good in
accordance with his zealous
performances not knowing that his steps are
under a dictator whose
authority is centralised. He truly has the attitude
of benevolence but have
we seen it? Man is afraid to fight for his rights
because of the
consequences which have been stereotyped for
any one who violates his laws
then, how will man survive? A society where
there is no freedoom is not a
democratic epitome but an era of unjust
restrictions.
Man has been told that he will surely come
down himself despite the
belief that he's every where. Where is he?
Hidden or obvious? No true
account of his whereabouts. Gazing in progress
like an ostrich but I hope
man won't be blinded by too much sun. I hope
his arrival will change
things, all are waiting and no one is sleeping. Let
your belief justify what
you believe.

Husband Catches Pregnant Wife Having S3x With Another Man (photo)

A woman simply identified as Mercy
was on Monday morning caught sleeping with
another man in Otukpo, Benue State.
Her husband identified as Okpani
caught the wife and her lover red-handed after
he set them up, having suspected the wife was
constantly cheating on him.
DailyPost gathered that Okpani, a
Local Government staff told his pregnant wife
that he will be going for a NULGE meeting which
is supposed to take place in Makurdi, the state
capital this morning. However, Okpani went to
the neighbour's house to stay and spy on his
wife's movement.
After a while, a middle aged man who was
identified as Omale walked stealthily into his
matrimonial room. Okpani gave them a little
time before coming out of his hideout into the
room, and alas, his wife was having sexual
intercourse with Omale.
As at press time, people are gathered at
Okpani's compound, waiting for the Police to
arrive.

You can’t escape impeachment, Speaker tells Gov ayo Fayose

The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of
Assembly, Dr Adewale Omirin, has said
Governor Ayodele Fayose cannot escape
impeachment.
He said the impeachment notice served him is a
constitutional matter and not theatrics to play
down serious issues of the law raised in the
letter to the governor.
He said instead of hiding to evade justice, it is
better to live with the reality that the rule of law
has come to stay in the country.
Reacting to media reports credited to the self-
styled Speaker, Dele Olugbemi and the
governor's media aide, Lere Olayinka, dismissing
the impeachment notice as a joke, Omirin said
the two men were still acting in ignorance of the
supremacy of the constitution.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media,
Wole Olujobi, Omirin said the Ekiti issue was to
rescue democracy from the gridlock of executive
lawlessness and impunity.
He said: "It will soon be clear to Fayose and his
aides that the matter at hand goes beyond
exuberant media skirmishes being deployed to
rally support for the governor.
"The world's attention has shifted to Ekiti State,
following the Ekitigate scandal. Several issues
have been raised on the place of the
constitution in nurturing democracy and as
responsible citizens, we must act fast to make
democracy work."
The Speaker said all allegations raised in the
impeachment notice are constitutional matters,
to which the governor must be ready to produce
answers, instead of his belligerent stance.
Advising the governor to respond to the
allegations against him, he said running away
from the Government House and using his aides
to cover his track would not help him in
defending his assault and other infractions on
the constitution that were established against
him in court.
"It is good that his men are talking in the media
about the need to uphold the constitution in this
matter even though they behave short of
upholding the constitution in their conduct.
"Even though the governor trampled on the
same constitution when he led thugs to attack
judges and tore records in the chief judge's
office, our duty is to follow constitutional path in
this impeachment process.
"These men who are flying the governor's
banner will soon see the law in action. This
impeachment process is real.
"We must rescue Ekiti State from lawlessness
and fraud. The N1.3 billion poultry project fraud
case is still in court. There are still cases of
unresolved murders.
"We have again seen the resumption of state-
sponsored terrorism with thugs attacking and
maiming Ekiti people after a break in 2006,
when the governor was impeached for fraud
and attacks on opponents.
"We thought his impeachment trauma in 2006
would have taught him a lesson, but the
governor has proved that he cannot survive in a
society where the law works.
"We advise him to come out of hiding and
defend himself because we are prepared to give
him a fair hearing.
"That is the reality he must face instead of
downplaying serious matter of constitutional
consequences."

I have not been served any impeachment notice. -- GOV Ayo Fayose

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state says for
anyone to successfully impeach him, they would
have to impeach God first. Gov. Fayose said this
during an audience participatory programme;
'Meet Your Governor' aired on the State
Television, EKTV, Ekiti Radio, Progress FM and
NTA, Ado Ekiti today April 6th.
"I'm like Israel that is in the midst of enemies
but will always prevail. Whoever wants to
remove me will first have to impeach God. They
are doing all these just to get at me because of
my support for President Jonathan and I have
no regret for supporting the president. Let me
say it again, I have not been served any
impeachment notice. The House of Assembly is
also on recess and Dr Adewale Omirin is not the
speaker of the State House of Assembly. Omirin
is in court, challenging his impeachment and he
can't be challenging his impeachment in court
and at the same time laying claim to being
Speaker."

I am not a miracle worker, Do not expect miracles - Buhari

President elect, Muhmmadu Buhari, has asked
Nigerians not to expect him to perform miracles
once he assumes power come May 29th. Gen
Buhari said this while speaking on the war
against Boko Haram in an interview with BBC.
According to Buhari, the triumph against the
sect members would not be immediately
achieved once he gets into power but said with
cooperation from Neighboring countries and the
commitment of the military, the war would be
won in a short time
"For five, six years, the Nigerian enforcement
law agencies, including the military, couldn't
secure 14 Local Governments. How can I
promise miracles when I come? But with the
cooperation of our neighbours Cameroon, Chad,
Niger and the international community, and the
commitment we are going to get from the
military, I think it will take us a much shorter
time to deal with it", he said.

APC Law Makers Say There Is No Going Back On Fayose's Impeachment

The 19 All Progressives Congress lawmakers in
Ekiti State House of Assembly have said there is
no going back on the impeachment plot against
Governor Ayodele Fayose.
The embattled Speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin,
said the governor could not run away from the
process because the impeachment notice
served on Fayose was a constitutional matter
and contained serious issues of the law.
He said instead of staying in hiding to evade
justice, "it is better to live with the reality that
the rule of law has come to stay in the
country."
He said this while reacting to media reports
credited to the factional Speaker, Dele
Olugbemi, and the governor's media aide, Lere
Olayinka, dismissing the impeachment notice as
a joke.
Omirin in a statement by his Special Adviser on
Media, Wole Olujobi, said the move was to
rescue democracy from the grip of executive
lawlessness and impunity into which the state
had been driven by the governor.
He said, "It will soon dawn on Fayose and his
aides that the matter at hand goes beyond
exuberant media skirmishes that are being
deployed to rally support for the governor.
"Attention of the world has shifted to Ekiti State
following the leaked tape detailing electoral
fraud perpetrated to give Fayose victory. After
that, several issues in Ekiti State are being
questioned on the place of the constitution in
nurturing democracy in the country, and as
responsible citizens, we must act right to make
democracy work."
Omirin said all allegations raised in the
impeachment notice were constitutional
matters, to which the governor must be ready
to produce answers instead of "belligerent
attitude" in the media in addressing serious
issue of constitutional significance.
Advising the governor to respond to the
allegations against him, he said running away
from the Government House and using his
aides to cover his track would not help him in
defending his assault on the nation's
constitution and other infractions against the
constitution that were already established
against him in courts.
"It is good that his men are talking in the
media about the need to uphold the
constitution in this matter even though they
behave short of upholding the constitution in
their conduct.
"Even though the governor trampled on the
same constitution when he led thugs to attack

Chief Judge's office, our duty is to follow
constitutional path in this impeachment
process.
"These men that are flying the governor's

Ekiti State from lawlessness and fraud. The
N1.3bn poultry project fraud case is still in
court. There are still cases of unresolved
murders.
"We have again seen the resumption of state-
sponsored terrorism with thugs attacking and
maiming Ekiti people after a break in 2006
when the governor was impeached for fraud
and attacks on opponents.

society where the law works. We advise him to
come out of hiding and defend himself because
we are prepared to give him a fair hearing.
That is the reality he must face instead of
downplaying serious matter of constitutional
consequences," the Speaker added.
Commenting on the impeachment notice on
Sunday, Fayose in a statement by his Special
Assistant on Public Communications and New
Media, Lere Olayinka, described his
governorship as a mandate freely and
wholeheartedly given by Ekiti people.
"Ekiti people who are the owners of my
mandate will defend it against political
usurpers, whom they had rejected twice in the
last nine months," he said.

I Will Crush BOKO HARAM Within Two Months - General Buhari

President –Elect, Muhammadu Buhari has re
assured that his administration will crush the
Boko Haram militants within two months of his
assuming office.
General Buhari spoke yesterday evening during
an interview with Christiane Amanpour on CNN,
monitored in Lagos.
He said there is insecurity in the north-east and
in the Niger Delta regions just as he explains
"we know how they started and where they are
now and we will rapidly give attention to
security in the country. And I believe we will ef
fectively deal with them in two months when we
get into office."
He said the Federal Government made some
mistakes in its fight against Boko Haram and his
administration will addressed the issues. Buhari
however stressed the importance of the support
and assistance of Nigeria's neighbours: Niger,
Cameroon and Chad to help checkmate the mili
tants.
"We will be needing the cooperation of
neighbouring countries such as Cameroon, Chad
and Niger. There were efforts made by the
President Goodluck Jonathan administration, but
it was not good enough and it came rather late,"
he said.
But where did the Jonathan administration go
wrong. Buhari drew attention to the poor
showing of the Nigerian military in the fight
against Boko Haram and explained thus: "We
expected the Federal Government four years ago
to sit down with these countries and make sure
they do not allow the terrorists free movement
across borders, training facilities and movement
of weapons.
"These were only done a few months ago and
we have seen how Cameroon, Chad and Niger
are fighting Boko Haram more than Nigeria is
doing until recently. Really we have seen enough
and we have enough law enforcement to face
Boko Haram squarely."
Buhari is confident that under his government,
the Nigeria Army will perform differently. He
also said the performance of the military was
affected by corruption in the system.
"They will…if you recall, the Nigerian soldiers out
of all ethical expectations were granting inter
views to foreign journalists, saying they were
being sent to fight terrorists without proper
weapons
"And then the National Assembly attempted to
conduct a hearing to find out how much money
was approved for training and weapon in the
last three years but that hearing was scuttled by
the administration."

attendance when parties were being called
upon to sign the result sheet, told journalists
shortly after the result was declared that the
party was not satisfied with the outcome of the
election and had decided to challenge it at the
election tribunal.
"Whether I sign it (the result sheet) or I don't
sign it, does not make any difference. It doesn't
invalidate the result. When we go to court, then
we can challenge the result," Fadile said.
When asked to confirm if the PDP will challenge
the result at the presidential election petitions
tribunal, Fadile added, "Sure! The party
petitioned. Don't forget. So the party will follow
through the petition. There are rules for this.
The law is there.
"The result was declared on the 1st of April, I
think. We will follow the due process. Like the
president (Jonathan) said, 'If you have any
grievances, follow due process and the due
process in this instance is to go to the tribunal."

Five Reasons Why Jonathan Lost to General Buhari - BBC

Here are five reasons why the
opposition won:
1: Harder to rig
Past elections have been marred by serious
irregularities and suspicions of rigging. In 2007
observers said the presidential poll was not
"credible". In 2011 the vote was considered to
be better run but observers said that rigging
and fraud still took place.
This time the electoral commission took more
steps to prevent rigging, including new biometric
voters cards.
Also President Jonathan's party, the People's
Democratic Party (PDP), had lost control of some
key states which meant it could not control the
electoral process there.
2: Boko Haram and security
The Nigerian army has made some recent gains
against Boko Haram, but not enough to convince
Nigerians
The election took place against the background
of an Islamist insurgency in the north-east of
the country. The Boko Haram militant group has
killed 20,000 people and forced some three
million others from their homes and President
Jonathan was criticised for not getting to grips
with this.
The poll was delayed for six weeks to give time
for the security situation to improve, but even
though most areas controlled by Boko Haram
were recaptured, it seems to have come too
late for many people.
3: United opposition, crumbling PDP
The extra six weeks of vigorous campaigning by
the PDP was not enough to halt the slide in the
party's fortunes
The PDP has been described as an election-
winning machine. When it was created it united
a northern elite with leading politicians from the
south, but that alliance has broken up and the
party lost some key figures. Even former
President Olusegun Obasanjo came out against
Mr Jonathan.
At the same time, the opposition managed to
unite under the All Progressives Congress (APC)
banner. The last six weeks of desperate and
dirty campaigning, in which the APC responded
in kind, was not enough to turn the tide.
4: Economy
Nigeria's economy is growing but the wealth is
not being spread around
Nigeria is Africa's biggest oil producer and its
largest economy, but many fail to feel the
benefits with nearly half the population living
below the poverty line. Continued corruption is
seen as partly being to blame.
National income is due to grow by more than 5%
this year and next year, but people did not
seem in the mood to thank Mr Jonathan for this.
5: Time for a change
APC supporters chanted "change" wherever they
went and it seems to have caught the mood.
The PDP has been in power since the end of
military rule in 1999, and 2015 is the year that
Nigerians decided that someone else should
have a go at sorting things out.
President-elect Buhari now has to prove he
really can change things.

Congratulations to General Buhari for a hard- won victory

! We hope this signifies the dawn of
a new era; an era when the votes of the people
count. This should send the signal that never
again should politicians take Nigerians for
granted. I salute President Jonathan for living up
to his one-man-one-vote promise; he has
succeeded in laying a solid foundation for
democracy in Nigeria. This, in itself, is a legacy,
and I hope it partly offsets his shortcomings in
office. Many thanks to Prof. Jega – a bold,
incorruptible, exemplary comrade and true hero
of our democracy – for presiding over Nigeria's
most intriguing, most difficult and most
innovative elections! Every Nigerian is a winner;
no victor and no vanquished. Events preceding
the elections to date show clearly that the
progress of Nigeria remains paramount to all, in
spite of our diversity. We should all be proud of
our maturing political system. And above all, we
should engage with the incoming parliament to
take further electoral reforms seriously. God
heal and bless our land!

THE police in Ekiti have arrested a man, Wale

Vehicle Inspection Officer and father of seven,
Joshua Fagbola.
Fagbola, a patrol assistant with the Directorate
of Road Traffic Service, otherwise known as the
Vehicle Inspection Officer, in Ado Ekiti, met his
untimely death at the wake of a relative on
Friday at about 8pm in the Iro quarters of Iyin
Ekiti, Ekiti State.
It was learnt that Ede attacked Fagbola when he
was about to start the engine of his motorbike
and leave the venue of the wake.
The deceased had on Thursday reportedly seized
the cell phone of his suspected killer when he

An eye witness said Ede, on sighting the VIO at

PDP lied, we haven't collated results in 23 states - Jega

The Chairman of the Independent National
Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, has
dismissed claims of victory by the Peoples
Democratic Party in 23 states as reported by the
Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP
Presidential Campaign Organisation, Femi Fani-
Kayode.
Fani-Kayode had on his official Twitter page on
Sunday, said,"As we speak now, we are winning
in 23 states and we have 64 per cent while the
APC is winning in 14 states and has 36 per cent."
But Jega, in a series of tweets on the official
Twitter page of INEC, countered the claim.
He urged Nigerians to be "wary of declaration
from people who are clearly partisan."
Jega said in the tweets, "I don't know where the
PDP spokesman got his source but we have not
collated results in 23 states."
The INEC boss stated that the collation of results
would begin by 12pm on Monday.
While justifying his reports, Fani-Kayode said he
got his statistics from "our polling agents at
every polling unit in the country. They gave us
the numbers."
